I don't understand why Hwi Noree slept with Duncan Idaho

No, she was made in a no-chamber from Malky's cells but she wasn't invisible to prescience (from what I can remember). They knew she would be attractive to Duncan and Leto. Leto knew she'd be attracted to Duncan too, which is why he tried to keep them apart. Apparently Duncan was a stud muffin.
 
She did say something about how she can't resist any Atreides and Ducan is very close to being an Atreides...or something. I think she just loved the ghola cock.
 
Yeah.. a few times Leto said that Duncan was the Atreides. PLUS the Ixians tampered with the Duncans over the centuries. Hwi said, "You know it's love when you want to give joy and damn the consequences". So I think she fell for him.. but I always thought that was kinda cheesy since people CAN control themselves if they want to.

Do you know what an axlotl tank is? I don't think that is revealed until Heretics.. or maybe Chapterhouse.

oh and I think Hwi was grown in an axlotl tank in a no chamber.. something like that. I think I'll read all six books again SOON.
 
He has flippers... lol I'm sure you've read the flipper getting shot part by now. Did you finish the book or are you just to the Hwi and Duncan sex part?
 
Something I didn't like about GEoD was the section where Leto's thinking about having the Tleilaxu reverse his transformation so that he could fuck Hwi. His thoughts are along the lines of that it wouldn't work because by the time he was a man again, Hwi would be long dead.

He was basically daydreaming when he was thinking about doing that.. he knew that if he did anything he'd jeopardize his Golden Path.

And.... speaking of gholas, KJA and Brian Herbert actually WENT THERE... they brought everyone back as gholas from Scytale's nulentropy tube. Even people that he shouldn't have been able to cause he shouldn't even have their cells. I hate KJA!

OH and I'm glad you've read them too Dual. We should have a Dune reading group or something nerdy like that.
 
My problem wasn't that he didn't do it, it was that his reasoning was.. off.

And yes, we should! Have you heard about (the rumours of) Dune 2009?
 
The movie? Yes, but Byron Merritt (Frank's grandson) keeps saying that it's still with the lawyers, so I don't know when that is going to happen. I'm really scared about the movie.. what if it sucks like the Lynch movie? lol I hope they go all out with the special effects like they did for LotR.

Anyway, I am planning to start reading Dune again soon. First I have to read Catch-22 by Joseph Heller, which I should have by Tuesday.
 
I think they'd have to TRY to make it as bad as the Lynch version. ;)

I'm just going to hope that it'll be amazing and stay excited about it at least until we start getting negative news.

I love Catch 22 because I can connect it to pretty much anything that happens to or around me. ;)

I was reading a downloaded version late last year, then my computer died, then I thought I'd just buy the books since they're good enough to read on the toilet, so I did and now I'm nearly finished God Emporer.
