Good choice for McCartney. That's one of my favourite of his songs.
 
Out of the options provided I find it pretty hard to choose. Even though I prefer Lennon in nearly every way I would probably have to give the songwriting crown to McCartney out of both of them. Paul Simon and Dylan are both incredible songwriters as well.

I would suggest that Paul Simon and Paul McCartney are also better singers than the others, so they get points there. I know Bob Dylan's really popular, but I don't personally like his voice much.
 
Where are Jim Morrison, Iggy Pop, David Bowie, Elton John, etc. ?
 
My vote, between the proposed artists, of course goes to the tambourine man.
 
After much thought I reluctantly went with Neil Diamond for longevity. I suspect Lennon might still be writing hits, but he got shot which wasn't his fault. But Dylan and McCartney are long dried up. Joni has become so-so. Taylor just does greatest hits concerts and covers other peoples songs now. Paul Simon can still write, but he's been on some sort of acid trip about Africa for 20 years nows.
 
At least it wasn't a Rick Roll :)
 
I'm not voting. Ranking something like this is far too subjective, and I like many singers. Not just a handful.

and Joni Mitchell is the only Canadian I see on that list...meh. Talk about resting on your laurels....she doesn't even make my top 49 list now.
 
Elton John deserves to be up there but I don't think this thread can take many more youtube vids.
