I've been watching bits of the American Masters Dick Van Dyke 100th birthday celebration. If you love him, it's a great show.

This was good, I hope they make a full series.

The Muppet Show was VERY good -- totally on brand. It was a faithful recreation of the old show, with only hints of modernization here and there. It's like they picked up right where they left off in 1981. Sabrina Carpenter was a great choice to usher this in, because she's young but her style blends in with the show's tone. The humor was just as good, decent jokes, and no culture shock -- nobody's texting each other, etc.

They used technological innovation very thoughtfully, so that you'd barely notice it unless you were a true geek. The fact that they could cut to the audience more times per show, AND it's a combination of muppets and people, which gave them a way to bring in more celeb cameos like Maya Rudolph.

I hope they get to do whole seasons again -- if they're as good as this special, it'll be worth it.

She's one of those universally liked artists. She can mix with the Muppets, and she's also a favorite at SNL.

I couldn't name a song by her but I enjoy her on screen lol.

I hear there have been difficulties cracking a premise for an ongoing Muppet Show series that Disney (Disney+ and 20th TV), The Muppets Studio and Point Grey will all be on board for.

Why the fuck isn't the premise just THE MUPPET SHOW?
