Clemson gets rare ACC double in 79-72 win over No. 3 Duke

The Blue Devils (15-2, 5-1 ) came into the game as 10 1/2-point favorites and were leading the nation with an average margin of victory of 21.5 points. Duke had not lost since a stunning home defeat to Stephen F. Austin in November.

College basketball picks: Can Duke or Louisville take charge in the ACC?
Duke and Louisville will face off in a game that should have a lot to say about the ACC title race, though both the Blue Devils and Cardinals (who are tied with quietly strong Florida State for the ACC lead) have shown their flaws. ESPN.com's college basketball experts delved into their biggest questions heading into that game, the state of the ACC in general, and the most surprising players rising on NBA draft boards.

How North Carolina's 2019-20 season unraveled a timeline
Recruiting 2014-17: A dark cloud, overhyped underachievers and the one-and-done no one saw coming. The spring 2019 rebuild: Disappointing hits, notable misses. Injuries, Chapter I: A star goes down. Injuries, Chapter II: The hobbling of the Heels

North Carolina exited the NCAA tournament with only two commitments, and it needed to reload quickly. And that's what Williams did.

April 23, 2019: Cole Anthony commits to North Carolina
April 23, 2019: Anthony Harris commits to North Carolina
April 26, 2019: Christian Keeling transfers to North Carolina
May 2, 2019: Justin Pierce transfers to North Carolina

Suddenly, North Carolina went from a team that was a borderline preseason top-25 group to one expected to compete for an ACC title and a spot in the Final Four. Anthony was the major coup. The son of former NBAer Greg Anthony, he was the No. 1 guard in the 2019 class and considered a future top-five NBA draft pick. Anthony single-handedly changed the Tar Heels' on-paper expectations. He was followed the same day by ESPN 100 guard Harris, who decommitted from Virginia Tech three weeks earlier, after Buzz Williams left for Texas A&M. Then came the two graduate transfers: Keeling from Charleston Southern and Pierce from William & Mary. Keeling was a big-time scorer in the Big South, averaging 18.7 points and 6.9 rebounds while shooting 38% from 3. Pierce was a versatile option for William & Mary, putting up 14.9 points, 8.9 rebounds and 4.1 assists. Both transfers were expected to contribute immediately, and maybe even start, for North Carolina.

But Mooney pulled down just five rebounds, halting his streak of double-doubles at 12 games.

No. 6 Louisville rolls Clemson 80-62 for 6th straight win
The Cardinals (17-3, 8-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) pulled away with a 20-0 first-half run and shot 66% before halftime. Louisville hit 10 of 21 from long range for the game. Nwora scored 10 points as Louisville avoided becoming the Tigers' latest upset victim. Clemson (10-9, 4-5) had won four of five, including victories at North Carolina and over then-No. 3 Duke.
