Projected No. 1 pick Zaccharie Risacher to enter NBA draft

Zaccharie Risacher, the projected No. 1 pick, has submitted paperwork to the league office making him eligible for the 2024 NBA draft, he told ESPN on Monday. Risacher, 19, is in the midst of a productive season in France, as his JL Bourg team is in third place in Pro A and reached the EuroCup Finals. He is averaging 10.4 points and 3.4 rebounds in 23 minutes per game, shooting 39% for 3. Since August, Risacher has played in over 60 games across several competitions, more than any other player in this draft class, with possibly two more months still in store as the French playoffs kick off in mid-May. The son of former Olympian and EuroLeague player Stephane Risacher, Zaccharie was identified as possibly the top international prospect in his age group from an early stage. He represented France at the FIBA level at the under-16, U17 and U19 levels and made his senior national team debut this past February at the age of 18.

NBA breaks six ties among 15 teams for June draft

The NBA broke six ties among 15 teams Monday to determine the order of selection for the 2024 NBA Draft, which will be held June 26 and 27. The Charlotte Hornets won a tiebreaker with the Portland Trail Blazers after both teams finished 21-61, tentatively slotting them third and fourth respectively in the NBA Draft order. Charlotte has a 13.3% chance of winning the draft lottery, while Portland is now at 13.2%. The Sacramento Kings won a tiebreaker over the Golden State Warriors and will have the No. 13 pick if it does not move up in the draft lottery. The Warriors receive the No. 14 pick -- the last selection in the lottery and their pick will be conveyed to the Portland Trail Blazers unless the Warriors move into the top four, of which they have just a 3.4% chance.

Colorado's Cody Williams, expected lottery pick, to enter NBA draft

Colorado freshman guard cody Williams an expected lottery pick -- is entering the 2024 NBA draft, he told ESPN on Monday. Williams -- No. 10 in ESPN's list of Top 100 prospects -- is one of the class's best defenders and brought an elite level of intensity guarding the best scorer that Colorado faced on most nights. His 6-foot-8 frame and 7-foot-1 wingspan was especially problematic for smaller guards. Williams averaged 11.9 points, three rebounds and 1.9 assists on 55.2% shooting in 24 games for the Buffaloes. Williams has strong basketball instincts and is a late bloomer on a similar developmental trajectory as his brother Jalen -- who didn't emerge as a serious NBA prospect until his third season in college. Williams emerged as an early No. 1 pick candidate, debuting at No. 2 in ESPN's first 2024 mock draft in February of 2023, but was unable to display the best version of himself due to a series of minor injuries last season.

Player of year Zach Edey officially enters NBA draft

Zach Edey, the consensus national player of the year and a projected lottery pick, has submitted paperwork to the league office making him eligible for the 2024 NBA draft, he told ESPN. A 7-foot-4 center from Canada, Edey is the No. 14 prospect in ESPN's draft projections. He's one of the most decorated players in college basketball history, the first to win unanimous National Player of the Year honors since Bill Walton in 1973. He led the nation in scoring at 24.9 points per game, and finished third in rebounding at 12.2. Edey holds the all-time Purdue record by scoring more than 2,500 points and pulling down more than 1,300 rebounds, something that hasn't been done in college basketball since Lionel Simmons more than 30 years ago. He led No. 1 seed Purdue to the national championship game, where he posted 37 points and 10 rebounds in a loss to UConn. Edey entered the 2023 NBA draft but elected to return to Purdue for his senior season. That move appeared to pay off in a major way as he's now a projected top-20 pick who can be selective with how he positions himself in the pre-draft process.
