2024 nba mock draft: projecting all 58 picks post-lottery
The Atlanta Hawks won the 2024 NBA draft lottery Sunday, securing the No. 1 pick on June 26. It will be the first time the Hawks have ever had the top pick. Unlike last year, when Victor Wembanyama was the clear-cut No. 1 prospect, there's not a consensus top player on draft boards for the 2024 class. The top two prospects are French players: Zaccharie Risacher (Bourg) and Alex Sarr (Perth).

How an NBA title could impact Ant, Luka, Tatum and Haliburton

Even before the Boston Celtics and Indiana Pacers tipped off their series at TD Garden on Tuesday night, the 2024 NBA conference finals had already made league history. For the first time, zero current or former Most Valuable Players -- the award was introduced before the 1955-56 season -- have reached the NBA's final four, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. Welcome to the next-gen conference finals, which present a massive opportunity for four young stars looking to take the next step in their careers.

Celtics' forward Jayson Tatum, who at 26 is already a grizzled playoff veteran, has yet to capture a ring, unlike the Boston legends of the past. The Pacers, meanwhile, feature one of the league's most exciting and dynamic young guards in 24-year-old Tyrese Haliburton, who has led Indiana to a surprising run.

Minnesota Timberwolves' 22-year-old superstar guard Anthony Edwards could be on the fast track in becoming the next face of the NBA and is already receiving comparisons to Michael Jordan. His counterpart with the Dallas Mavericks, 25-year-old guard Luka Doncic, has become the do-it-all engine for one of the most exciting teams in the league.

How would an NBA title impact the trajectories and narratives surrounding their young careers?

Bronny James attracting fan wagers to be No. 1 pick in NBA draft

Bronny James is one of the most intriguing prospects in the 2024 NBA draft class -- but less so for his abilities on the court and more likely because selecting him could increase the chances for a team to land his legendary father, LeBron James, in free agency. That name recognition is driving an astonishing number of wagers on James Jr. in draft markets.

James has consensus odds of 200-1 to be taken with the draft's first pick -- tied with Purdue's Zach Edey for the longest odds on the board. Those long odds, in addition to the discrepancy in bets to handle, would seem to indicate that a lot of small-money bettors are taking a flier on the wild scenario. James is projected as a late second round pick in ESPN's latest mock draft.

DraftKings and BetMGM both list the Los Angeles Lakers as the favorite to draft James with +180 odds. At DraftKings, the 19 year old is the leader in both bets (33%) and handle (60%), but BetMGM has the Cleveland Cavaliers (10-1) as the handle leader with 34.8%. Both teams have associations with James Sr.

2024 NBA draft rankings: Jonathan Givony's top 100 prospects

The 2024 NBA draft continue is over, but the work is not done for players, teams and scouts as the pre-draft process kicks into high gear entering June. Most teams and executives say they have considerable work in front of them -- watching player film, conducting private workouts and interviews and a thorough examination of medical records and background intel ahead of the NBA draft on June 26-27. Usually by this stage, the draft is decently clear, but due to the lack of star power at the top and how flat the talent level is outside the lottery, things seem wide open. Possible No. 1 pick Zaccharie Risacher and his JL Bourg team in France are about to play in the French playoff semifinals, and then Risacher and top-10 prospect Tidgane Salaun will prepare for the NBA Global Camp in Treviso, Italy. Results from the combine and agency pro day workouts in Chicago and Los Angeles helped to create movement in ESPN's Top 100 Big Board.

Projected 2025 NBA lottery pick Nolan Traore staying in France

One of the top players in the NBA's 2025 draft class, French guard Nolan Traore, has spurned offers from around the world to remain in his home country, he told ESPN on Saturday. Traore, a 6-foot-5, 17-year-old playmaker who matriculated from famed Parisian sports academy INSEP, will sign a two-year contract with Saint-Quentin in the French first division.

Traore was being recruited by a host of powerhouse college basketball programs -- including Duke, Arkansas, Gonzaga and Alabama as well as the Australian NBL and EuroLeague and EuroCup teams in France and abroad. He said the comfort of being close to home, along with his preexisting relationship with Saint-Quentin, was important for him.

Traore helped guide Saint-Quentin to the Pro A playoffs in its debut season in the first division, posting 25 points and seven assists in his final game against EuroLeague squad ASVEL. After making a midseason jump from the third division, he ranked as a top-10 scorer and the second-best passer in France's Pro A on a per-minute basis competing against grown men.

NBA mock draft: Pick predictions after withdrawal deadline

With less than a month before the 2024 NBA draft begins, players are making big-time decisions that will impact their futures. With the NCAAs early-entry withdrawal deadline passing on Wednesday, several prospects withdrew their names from the draft process in order to return to their prior college program or transfer to a new one. The top prospects who are staying in the draft and hope to hear their names called in the new two-day event (June 26-27 in New York) include Johnny Furphy (a 6-9 guard out of Kansas who rankd No. 18 in ESPN's Top 100), Bronny James (a 6-3 guard out of USC) and David Jones (a 6-5 forward out of Memphis). Now, NBA teams are jumping into individual workouts that will help them narrow down their boards and get a handle on whom they might draft. The Atlanta Hawks secured the No. 1 pick, and then the draft turns to the Washington Wizards and Houston Rockets at Nos. 2 and 3.

2024 NBA draft: Player comps for all 14 projected lottery picks

Coming up with player comparisons for 2024 NBA draft prospects can be a useful exercise, if done responsibly. It's easy to make hyperbolic claims about ceiling and potential, or harp on a player's downside, but the eventual outcome for a career tends to be somewhere in the middle. Few players reach the high end of their perceived upside, and those who bust might wind up well below what modest expectations can be set.

The real utility in this exercise ahead of the two-day draft June 26-27 is understanding what a prospect's role might look like down the line, what level of growth it might take for him to reach a great outcome, and how much risk there is if things don't pan out the way one hopes. There are few true one-to-one comparisons that wind up being accurate, but this type of thought process can help in player evaluation from a conceptual standpoint, and in envisioning how a prospect's profile might fit a certain team.
