The 2024 NFL Draft will be the 89th annual meeting of National Football League (NFL) franchises to select newly eligible players. The draft is scheduled to be held around Campus Martius Park and Hart Plaza in Detroit, Michigan, on April 25–27, 2024.

Possible No. 1 pick Drake Maye to skip bowl, enter draft​

North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye, one of the top NFL prospects in college football, tells ESPN that he's forgoing the remainder of his eligibility at UNC to declare for the NFL draft. Maye, a redshirt sophomore, started all 26 games of his career during the past two seasons at UNC. He told ESPN on Monday that he will not play in the Duke's Mayo Bowl against West Virginia. He'll leave school with a 17-9 record as a starter.

Maye is a contender to be the No. 1 overall pick in the draft, and his decision to declare sets the stage for a potential monthslong debate for that spot. USC quarterback Caleb Williams has not declared his intentions for 2024 but has also made clear he's not playing in the postseason.

Over his North Carolina career, Maye threw for 8,018 yards, ranking him fifth on UNC's all-time passing list. He ranks fourth on UNC's career touchdown list with 63. Maye led UNC to the ACC championship game in 2022, as the Tar Heels started the season 9-1 and ascended to as high as No. 13 in the rankings. This season, UNC began the year 6-0 and climbed as high as No. 10.

Oregon's Jackson Powers-Johnson, Bucky Irving declare for NFL draft​

Oregon's Jackson Powers-Johnson, who won the Rimington Trophy as the nation's top center in 2023, is declaring for the NFL draft. The junior from Draper, Utah, became the first Pac-12 player to win the Rimington Trophy, and also was named a first-team AP All-America selection. He allowed only one pressure on 471 pass-blocking opportunities, and received the top pass-blocking grade (91.3), run-blocking grade (85.2) and overall grade (84.6) from Pro Football Focus among FBS centers. ESPN rated Powers-Johnson as the nation's No. 2 recruit in the 2021 class. Powers-Johnson helped Oregon's offensive line become a finalist for the Joe Moore Award.

Notre Dame's Sam Hartman to skip Sun Bowl to prep for NFL draft​

Notre Dame quarterback Sam Hartman is opting out of the team's upcoming appearance in the Sun Bowl and will begin preparing for the NFL draft. Hartman had 2,689 passing yards with 26 touchdowns and eight interceptions in his lone season at Notre Dame. He finishes his college career with 15,656 passing yards, 134 touchdowns and 49 interceptions. Hartman set the ACC career touchdown passes record at Wake Forest (110) and moved into fourth place on the FBS career list. He earned third-team All-ACC honors in 2022 and was a finalist for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award this year.

Notre Dame OT Joe Alt declares for NFL draft, won't play bowl game​

Notre Dame junior offensive tackle Joe Alt has declared for the 2024 NFL draft, he annouced on social media Wednesday morning. The 6-foot-8, 322-pound Alt ranked 15th overall on Mej Kiper Jr's. Big Board was a finalist for the Lombardi Award this season and was named an AP first-team All-American earlier this week for a second straight season. Alt started 33 consecutive games at left tackle for Notre Dame. Its offense is 29th in the FBS in total offense (429.2 YPG) heading into its game against Oregon State.

Florida State's Trey Benson to enter NFL draft, skip Orange Bowl​

Florida State running back Trey Benson will enter the NFL draft and will not play in the Capital One Orange Bowl for the Seminoles, he announced Sunday. Benson, who rushed for 905 yards and 14 touchdowns this season while averaging 5.8 yards per carry, is the No. 2-rated running back by ESPN NFL draft insider Mel Kiper Jr. Benson, a redshirt junior who had a long rehab journey following major knee surgery at Oregon in 2020, moved to FSU and immediately found success, rushing for 990 yards and nine touchdowns in 2022. He also had a receiving touchdown and a kickoff return in his two seasons at FSU, giving him 25 total TDs in two seasons.

LSU's Jayden Daniels to enter NFL draft, skip bowl game​

LSU quarterback Jayden Danoeis, the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner, is headed to the NFL draft and will skip the Tigers' upcoming bowl game. Daniels, who spent two years at LSU after transferring from Arizona State, announced his departure Monday on social media. He had 3,812 passing yards and 40 touchdowns, and 1,134 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns. He won the Heisman over Washington quarterback Michael Penix. on Dec. 9. LSU is set to face Wisconsin in the ReliaQuest Bowl on Jan. 1 in Tampa, Florida. Daniels became the second LSU quarterback in the past five seasons to win the Heisman, joining Joe Burrow (2019). He also won the Davey O'Brien Award, Walter Camp Player of the Year, AP Player of the Year and the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.

Maryland QB Taulia Tagovailoa opts out of Music City Bowl​

Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa, the Big Ten's all-time passing yards leader, is opting out of the team's upcoming bowl appearance and will begin preparation for the NFL draft. The younger brother of Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa , who starred at Alabama for coach Nick Saban and Locksley, Taulia Tagovailoa set almost every Maryland passing record, including yards, touchdowns (77), career completions (955), career completion percentage (67.1) and career 300-yard games (15). He earned second-team All-Big Ten honors in each of the past two seasons, and also set Maryland's career record for total offense (11,473 yards). Tagovailoa transferred to Maryland from Alabama after the 2019 season.

FSU DE Jared Verse to enter NFL draft, skip Orange Bowl​

Florida State defensive end Jared Verse announced Tuesday he will opt out of the Orange Bowl against Georgia and enter the NFL draft. Verse is ranked the No. 15 prospect for the 2024 NFL draft on Mel Kiper Jr.'s latest Big Board. A 6-foot-4, 260-pound junior, Verse transferred from FCS Albany to Florida State in 2022 and went from under-the-radar prospect to one of the best defensive players in college football. This past season, Verse was a first-team AFCA All-American and an All-ACC first-team selection, with 41 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, 9 sacks and a forced fumble. He came on strong in the final two games of the season, with a career-high 2.5 sacks and three tackles for loss in a road win at rival Florida, and two sacks and three tackles for loss in Florida State's ACC championship win over Louisville.

Keon Coleman latest Florida State star to enter NFL draft​

Florida State receiver Keon Coleman said he plans to enter the NFL draft, adding yet another name to the extensive list of Seminoles who will have a new home in 2024. Coleman transferred to Florida State in May and made an instant impact, catching three touchdowns in the Seminoles' Week 1 win over LSU. Coleman battled injuries and inconsistency at times this season, but he still finished with 50 catches for 658 yards and 11 touchdowns, as well as 25 punt returns for 300 yards. He currently is 12th on ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr.'s 2024 NFL draft Big Board. In 2022 at Michigan State, Coleman had 58 receptions for 798 yards and seven touchdowns.

Tennessee QB Joe Milton III to skip Citrus Bowl for NFL draft​

Milton, a fifth-year senior, announced Wednesday on social media that he was skipping the game to begin preparing for the NFL draft and thanked his coaches, teammates and fans. ESPN's Mel Kiper ranks Milton as the 10th-best quarterback in the 2024 NFL draft. Milton closes out his college career after three seasons at Tennessee. He was the backup to Hendon Hooker for two seasons before stepping in as the starter this year. He passed for 2,813 yards with 20 touchdowns and five interceptions in leading the Vols to an 8-4 record. Milton started his career at Michigan before transferring to Tennessee.

Penn State OT Olu Fashanu opts out of Peach Bowl vs. Ole Miss​

Penn State offensive tackle Olu Fashanu, a projected top-10 NFL draft pick, will not play Saturday against Ole Miss in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. Fashanu declared for the NFL draft Dec. 22 but accompanied his teammates to Atlanta and had not said whether he would play against the No. 11 Rebels. ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. projects Fashanu as the No. 8 overall prospect for the 2024 draft. Fashanu started 12 games for No. 10 Penn State this season and was named Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year, as well as earning co-MVP honors from the team.

Tackle Amarius Mims leaving Georgia to enter NFL draft​

Georgia junior right tackle Amarius Mims is leaving school early to declare for the NFL draft, he told ESPN on Sunday. Mims projects as one of the draft's top tackles and a potential first-round pick. At a position that's typically one of significant need in the NFL, Mims is ranked No. 5 in a loaded tackle class by ESPN NFL draft Insider Mel Kiper Jr. The 6-foot-7, 340-pound Mims allowed only one pressure and zero sacks in more than 150 pass blocking plays this season, according to ESPN Stats & Information. He has started eight games during his career.

Panthers loss gives celebratory Bears No. 1 pick​

The Chicago Bears closed out the last day of 2023 with plenty to celebrate. The Bears beat the Atlanta Falcons 37-17 during their final game of the year at Soldier Field, which marked their seventh win of the season and fifth straight at home. After starting the season 2-7, Chicago has won four of its past five games. The Panthers' 26-0 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Arizona Cardinals' win over the Philadelphia Eagles ensures Carolina (2-14) will finish the season with the worst record in the NFL, meaning the Bears are officially locked into possession of the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 draft.

The Bears will head into the offseason with the No. 1 selection for a second straight year. Chicago earned the top pick on the last day of the 2022 season and traded it to Carolina on March 10 in exchange for the ninth and 61st overall selections in the 2023 draft, Carolina's 2024 first-round pick, a 2025 second-rounder and Moore. The Panthers lost their first six games of the season and fired first-year coach Frank Reich after a 1-10 start. Carolina entered Sunday having scored in 342 straight regular-season games since Week 13 in 2012, the second-longest active streak in the NFL, behind only the Baltimore Ravens, who are now up to 352.

Georgia star TE Brock Bowers declares for 2024 NFL draft​

Georgia junior Brock Bowers, the first two-time winner of the Mackey Award as the top tight end in college football, announced Tuesday that he's entering the NFL draft. Bowers, a native of Napa, California, is ranked as the No. 5 propect available for the 2024 NFL draft by ESPN analyst Mel Kiper Jr.; ESPN analyst Jordan Reid ranks him as the No. 8 available prospect. Bowers was a three-time All-SEC and All-American selection after making an immediate impact with the Bulldogs as a freshman in 2021. He had 56 receptions for 882 yards and 13 touchdowns, helping the Bulldogs win their first national championship in 41 years. This past season, Bowers had TightRope surgery on his left ankle on Oct. 15 and missed three games and parts of others. He still managed to haul in 56 catches for 714 yards with 6 scores. His 494 receiving yards after contact led all FBS tight ends this past season.

Alabama CBs McKinstry, Arnold, LB Braswell entering NFL draft​

McKinstry and Arnold formed one of the top cornerback duos in the country this season. ESPN's Mel Kiper has McKinstry ranked as the No. 3 cornerback in the draft and Arnold as the No. 5 cornerback. Both were Associated Press first-team All-Americans, and Arnold led the Crimson Tide with five interceptions.

McKinstry and Arnold join linebackers Chris Braswell and Dallas Turner and offensive tackle JC Latham as Alabama players heading to the NFL. Braswell announced his plans Thursday on social media. Turner told ESPN after the 27-20 overtime loss to Michigan in the Rose Bowl that he was turning pro.

Ohio State sacks leader Jack Sawyer returning in 2024​

Ohio State defensive end Jack Sawyer, who led the team in sacks and is a former No. 1 overall recruit, will return to the Buckeyes for the 2024 season. Sawyer, who had hinted at a return last month, announced his decision Friday on social media. He completed his best season as a Buckeye in 2023, recording 6.5 sacks, 10 tackles for loss, 2 forced fumbles and 3 quarterback hurries. The 6-foot-4, 265-pound junior earned second-team All-Big Ten honors from the media and third-team honors from the coaches. ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. rated Sawyer as the No. 8 eligible defensive end prospect for the 2024 NFL draft. Sawyer was ESPN's No. 1 overall recruit in the 2021 class out of Pickerington, Ohio. He has 13.5 sacks, 18 tackles for loss and 3 forced fumbles in his career.
