AArrrgghhh McCAIN!

Bob Scheiffer was the moderator's name. Yay, Bob. Yay.

I should but I can't. He looks wrong to me. He moves weird. Did he die and they fill his carcass up with milk and robotic parts then encase him in a thin sheet of opaque plastic? All he needs is Christopher Walken's hairline to completely freak me out.

That's okay. He's getting older, it happens to the best of us.

Dual, I have decided to vote for Gregoire. She's cold and hard, like steel, and not overly feminine. I like her. I am open to having my mind changed, so if you want to sell me on Rossi go ahead. The downside to the exciting presidential election is that it has completely distracted me from the local stuff.

Alyssum, you are correct as far as Keating 5 and Iran Contra. I'd love to hear McCain discuss that stuff and why he did what he did and what he thinks of it now. The best part is that the Iran Contra thing wasn't necessarily a bad idea, but I'm not discussing the Middle East in-depth here. As far as Obama changing things, the first thing he will change is the recent public opinion of the president not appearing intelligent. Let's start there.

Regarding abortion, doesn't anyone like Obama's lines about agreeing to disagree, finding the common ground, etc?

That moment, combined with the 56 eyeblinks while Obama answered, was when he lost the election.

I was watching on PBS so I hardly saw any reaction shots at all. Maybe I'll hit it up on YouTube.

I still love McCain because I think he is a decent, intelligent person. The reason I don't want him to be president is because he stopped being the "maverick" and started pandering to the social conservatives.

I don't think there is any common ground for some people regarding abortion. You either think it's murder or you don't.

That would be the best scenario, but there are a lot of people who don't want their kids taught anything about sex except it's bad till you're married. I guess they don't remember what it's like to be a teenager hitting puberty.

What about minimizing unplanned pregnancies in the first place?
That was Obama's stance last night as well. Educate in order to prevent. And he stuck his neck out by declaring he was against late-term/partial-birth abortions unless the mother's health is at risk. For every lefty lady he pissed off, he brought in two McCain centrists into the tent with that line.

lol @ "tent" Yes, it has been Obama's stance for some time. For my sex talk, my mother sat me down at the dinner table and told me that every time I had sex I would lose a little bit of self-respect.

I just saw a news story point out a humorous McCain gaffe last night. He said that Palin was sympathetic to children with special needs because she knows what it is like to have an autistic child. But it is a DOWNS baby she's raising! Sure, her sister has an autistic kid, but still. Funny, and I didn't catch that one. I don't have a problem with this one, he just misspoke. But funny.

That would be utterly fucking bullshit. I respect your views and love you as deeply as ever. I don't have to agree with you to respect you, remember that.

That also doesn't change my opinion that you're ignorant about Democrats = Baby Killers as your foundation rhetoric when you espouse said opinion on abortion.
You should have read what I wrote. If you saw yourself in that statement then that is something you need to look inside yourself about.

I also said something about gun crazy Republicans. I've also made it very clear on this message board that I am all for extreme gun control. While I tend to vote Republican, I am truly a centrist because there are no viable third parties. I do not own a gun.

And believe me, I have LESS faith after last night that Little Black Sambo will do anything more than status quo the government should we elect him, which it looks as if we will.

Well, I have to agree with Eggs on the partial birth abortion ban if Obama's voting record bears that out. However, I don't think it does. He is entitled to change his mind.

More than likely he will be voted in. If so, I hope he does well. We, as a country, need the next person in office to do well. Plus, if he does badly, too many black people will take it as their own personal failure.

I don't want McCain in office. He doesn't seem open to exploring other avenues to resolve our current biggest issues. While I agree that the baby shouldn't be thrown out with the bathwater, I think there is room for improvement in the way things have been done and we need to look for ways to make some improvements and pretty darn quick so I can retire.

I'm against late term abortion unless the mothers health is at heavy risk. I think that there is an obvious and logical line to be drawn and while abortion is NEVER a positive outcome of pregnancy I am fully against this militant anti-abortion movement espousing their "opinions" on others without invitation.

"If the anti-abortion movement took a tenth of the energy they put into noisy theatrics and devoted it to improving the lives of children who have been born into lives of poverty, violence, and neglect, they could make a world shine."

You said "I (jack) don't (doesn't) love you as much as I used to because of our argument over abortion" Um...that's what I was responding to directly.
