Mississippi Department of Human Services sues retired NFL quarterback Brett Favre, former pro wrestlers Brett DiBiase, Ted DiBiase Sr. (The Million Dollar Man) and Ted "Teddy" DiBiase Jr. over welfare misspending

The Mississippi Department of Human Services on Monday sued retired NFL quarterback Brett Favre, three former pro wrestlers and several other people and businesses to try to recover millions of misspent welfare dollars that were intended to help some of the poorest people in the United States. The lawsuit says the defendants "squandered" more than $20 million in money from the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families anti-poverty program. The suit was filed less than two weeks after a mother and son who ran a nonprofit group and an education company in Mississippi pleaded guilty to state criminal charges tied to the misspending. Nancy New, 69, and Zachary New, 39, agreed to testify against others in what State Auditor Shad White has called Mississippi's largest public corruption case in the past two decades.

Tom Brady to join Fox Sports as lead NFL analyst when playing career ends

Tom Brady will join Fox Sports as its lead NFL analyst when his playing career ends. Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch announced the news Tuesday during an earnings call. The seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback will call games alongside lead play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt and will work as an "ambassador" for Fox with a focus on "client and promotional initiatives." Brady, who turns 45 in August, becomes the latest superstar quarterback to pursue a post-retirement media career. Tony Romo has been the lead NFL analyst at CBS since 2017 after a 14-year career with the Dallas Cowboys. Drew Brees worked as a football analyst at NBC last year after 20 seasons in the NFL, and Peyton Manning and Eli Manning teamed up last season on ESPN's "ManningCast" broadcast of Monday Night Football. Brady briefly retired earlier this offseason but announced in March that he had changed his mind and will return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the 2022 season.

"The Nature Boy" will make the walk one final time. Ric Flair, one of the most well-known and revered professional wrestlers in history, will perform in one last match July 31, sources told ESPN on Monday. Flair, 73, will step into the ring at the Nashville Fairgrounds on an independent card that will stream live on FITE TV. Flair, a two-time WWE Hall of Famer and 16-time world champion, has not wrestled in a match since Sept. 12, 2011, a bout for Impact Wrestling against longtime rival Sting. His last WWE match was in 2008 at WrestleMania XXIV against Shawn Michaels. Flair's opponent for July 31 remains unclear. It's also unknown whether it will be a singles or tag team match. Flair, known for his "Woo!" catchphrase and famous strut, has been posting videos on social media of him training with current AEW wrestler Jay Lethal. The legendary wrestler asked for his release from WWE in 2021 and received it. Flair was most known for his work in the NWA and WCW, which was WWE's biggest rival in the 1980s and 1990s. But he also performed in WWE for parts of two decades, as a wrestler and on-screen manager.
