Since Lord Stanley's donation in 1892, the Stanley Cup was not awarded only twice. First, in 1919 because of the influenza pandemic, and later in 2005 because of the NHL lockout. These are the all-time Stanley Cup winners by year, from the early amateur days to the current NHL times.

A Los Angeles Lakers jersey worn by Kobe Bryant in his rookie season, including two playoff games, has sold at auction for $2.73 million. SCP Auctions said Sunday the buyer wished to remain anonymous, as did the seller, who had the jersey for 25 years. David Kohler of SCP Auctions had estimated the jersey from the 1996-97 season would fetch between $3 million and $5 million. Another of Bryant's rookie jerseys went for $3.69 million last year. That autographed, yellow game-worn jersey fetched the highest price ever for a basketball jersey.

Tim Tebow, Alex Smith, Ryan Leaf highlight first-time candidates on College Football Hall of Fame ballot[/size]

Tim Tebow, Alex Smith and Ryan Leaf highlight the first-time candidates on the ballot for the College Football Hall of Fame, it was announced Monday. In all, there are 80 players and nine coaches from FBS, and 96 players and 33 coaches from the divisional ranks.Tebow led Florida to two national championships and became the first sophomore to win the Heisman Trophy in 2007. He was a three-time SEC Offensive Player of the Year and set 28 school records during his career.
Smith, the former Utah quarterback, led the Utes to their first 12-0 season in 2004 and was an All-American that year. He retired from the NFL in 2021 after returning from a devastating leg injury to be named the NFL's Comeback Player of the year in 2020.
Leaf was the 1997 Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year at Washington State, leading the Cougars to their first league title in school history and first Rose Bowl berth in 67 years.
Other notable names as first-time candidates: Oklahoma State receiver Justin Blackmon, Oklahoma linebacker Rocky Calmus, Penn State running back Ki-Jana Carter, Oregon running back LaMichael James, Boston College linebacker Luke Kuechly, Oklahoma defensive lineman Dewey Selmon and Memphis running back DeAngelo Williams.

Aaron Rodgers: 'Definitely' will finish career with Green Bay Packers


Aaron Rodgers said Tuesday he doesn't know how many more seasons he will play admitting that the three-year, $150 million contract extension he signed in March shouldn't be an indicator, but he knows where he will finish his career. Packers coach Matt LaFleur initially wasn't sure how much work he would give Rodgers on Tuesday, but after seeing that the reigning MVP was in good shape, he allowed Rodgers to take part in almost every drill, including some 11-on-11s that were at a jog-through speed. The Packers are coming off three straight 13-win seasons but failed to reach the Super Bowl in any of them, including two losses in the NFC Championship Game. And now Rodgers has to deal with life after Davante Adams, the All-Pro receiver who wanted out of Green Bay and was traded this offseason to the Las Vegas Raiders.
