In an interview with 99.9 The Fan in Raleigh, N.C., Cunningham responded to comments Florida State president Richard McCullough made during a board of trustees meeting Wednesday. McCullough told the board that the Seminoles would "very seriously" consider leaving the ACC unless there is a radical change to the conference's revenue distribution model.

Coco Gauff tops Maria Sakkari in DC Open final for fourth WTA title​

Away from a tennis court, Coco Gauff is still, in some ways, a typical teen, rolling her eyes at receiving FaceTime calls from a younger sibling -- "I'm at press right now, Bro" -- and her father -- "Oh, my God" -- while two versions of the DC Open trophy she earned Sunday sat on the table in front of her. With a racket in her hand, Gauff is not typical at all, as her success so far shows. And after the disappointment of a first-round exit at Wimbledon last month, the 19-year-old from Florida appears back to her best as the start of the US Open approaches later this month.

Both have elite academic reputations and Stanford consistently has the country's best top-to-bottom athletic department, but the reverberations of realignment have left them at a crossroads.

Big Ten adds Oregon, Washington as newest members in blow to Pac-12
Unlike USC and UCLA, Oregon and Washington will not enter the Big Ten with full revenue shares. Sources told ESPN that both schools will receive approximately $30 million annually when they join the league, a share that will increase by $1 million during the current media contract with Fox, NBC and CBS, which runs through the 2029-30 athletic season. They then would be able to receive full shares.

Gauff, the 2022 French Open runner-up, earned her first Masters 1000 title when Muchova sailed a forehand return wide on Gauff's fourth match point. Georgia favored to repeat as rivals draw​

It has been eight years since oddsmakers anointed a team other than Alabama or Clemson as the preseason favorite. That streak is over, as Georgia is firmly the consensus betting favorite to win the College Football Playoff at sportsbooks around the nation. The Bulldogs, vying for a third consecutive national championship, enter the season with the fifth-shortest odds of any preseason title favorite in more than two decades, according to ESPN Stats & Information research. On Thursday, Georgia was +240 to win the College Football Playoff at Caesars Sportsbook. Alabama is next at +550, followed by Ohio State (+800) and Michigan (+850).

CFP says no format changes until 'dust settles' on realignment​

For the first time since the Pac-12 was gutted by realignment, the 10 FBS commissioners and Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick met Wednesday to discuss the future of the College Football Playoff in a meeting that was described as "cordial," but with a backdrop of uncertainty still looming over the league leaders. If the Pac-12 dissolves in 2024, as many expect it to, the CFP could change how it chooses the teams in the expanded 12-team format, which also begins in 2024. The current model includes the six highest-ranked conference champions plus the next six highest-ranked teams, which allows for five Power 5 conference champions, plus one Group of 5 champ. If the Pac-12 doesn't exist, though, the CFP is considering changing the criteria to the five highest-ranked conference champions, plus the next seven highest-ranked teams. The group also discussed the option of 12 at-large teams.

Virginia to honor shooting victims at home opener Saturday
Chandler, Davis and Perry were shot and killed last November on a charter bus after returning to school following a field trip to Washington, D.C. Two others were shot and survived, including running back Mike Hollins, who returned to the field last weekend against Tennessee.
