South Carolina women's hoops clear-cut betting favorites
South Carolina tips off as the clear-cut favorite to win the women's college basketball national championship, listed at +175 at ESPN BET, ahead of UConn and USC (both +415). South Carolina returns four starters and 87% of the minutes played from last season and is riding a 38-game win streak, the third longest in SEC history.

South Carolina lifts suspension on foward Ashlyn Watkins
Watkins is a 6-foot-3 junior who plays above her height. She led the Southeastern Conference with 91 blocks last season and posted the only two dunks in program history, one as a freshman and another as a sophomore.

Watkins had been suspended from team activities since her arrest on August 31, although she was permitted to take part in classes.
 
Nelly Korda clinches LPGA player of the year award
Korda won six times this year, including a major championship. She won five straight tournaments earlier in the season to tie the LPGA record. Korda, the No. 1 player in the women's world ranking, still has two tournaments left as she tries to win the Race to CME Globe, which is decided in the season finale Nov. 21-24.

Cameron Young withdraws from World Wide Championship
Young, who is 33rd in the Official World Golf Ranking, was the highest-ranked player in the field at El Cardonal at Diamante Cabo San Lucas. Young, 27, was set to make his first start since the BMW Championship while also seeking his first tour title. Young does have six top-10s this season.

Derek Carr passed for three touchdowns, Alvin Kamara and Jamaal Williams each ran for touchdowns and Blake Gruoe kicked four field goals — two from beyond 50 yards...Young was 13 of 30 passing for 161 yards and was intercepted twice — once each by safeties Will Harris and Jordan Howden. and was sacked three times.

Week 2: Sept 15 vs. Los Angeles Chargers L
Justin Herbert throws 3 TDs to Quentin Johnston; Chargers hammer Panthers 26-3 to remain unbeaten
Herbert finished 14 of 20 for 130 yards and Johnson had five catches for 51 yards. Johnson became the first NFL player since Jamal Lewis in 2003 with three runs of at least 43 yards the first two weeks of the season....Second-year quarterback Bryce Young had another miserable game, finishing 18 of 26 passing for 84 yards with one interception.

Week 3: Sept 22 at Las Vegas W
Andy Dalton passes for 319 yards 319 Tds to lead Panthers past Raiders 36-22 for first win
Dalton completed 26 of 37 passes and becoming the first NFL quarterback this season to post a 300-yard, three-TD performance. Dalton has thrown for 1,027 yards and 10 TDs in four career starts against the Raiders...gardner Minshew completed 18 of 28 passes for 214 yards with a touchdown and interception. The Las Vegas running game, which entered the game last in the league with a 49-yard average, totaled just 55 yards.

Week 4: Sept. 29 vs. Cincinnati L
Joe Burrow throws for 2 TDa, Bengals hold on to beat Panthers 34-24 for first victory of the season
Burrow threw for 232 yards and two touchdowns, Chase Brown ran for 80 yards and two scores...Andy Dalton threw for 220 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Chuba Hubbard had another strong game for Carolina, rushing for 104 yards and a touchdown

The Panthers honored defensive end Julius Peppers at halftime with his ring of excellence after he became the first player drafted by the franchise to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame earlier this year.

Week 5: Oct. 6 at Chicago L
Caleb Williams and DJ Moore lead the way in Bears' 36-10 rout of Panthers
Williams threw for 304 yards and two touchdowns in his best performance to date, Moore caught both scoring passes and had 105 yards receiving against his former team. Williams might have been playing for the Panthers if not for that trade in 2023. Carolina sent Moore and the No. 9 overall pick to Chicago for the top selection in the draft that year....Andy Dalton had a rough outing in his third start. Bryce Young replaced him in the closing minutes and was 4 of 7 for 58 yards and got sacked once.

Bijan Robinson scores 2 TDs. Falcon beat Panthers for 3rd straight victory vs. NFC South for
Bijan Robinson ran for 95 yards and two touchdowns, Tyler Allgeier added 105 yards rushing and a game-clinching score. Kirk Cousins completed 19 of 30 passes for 225 yards....Carolina's Andy dalton finished 26 of 38 for 221 yards with two touchdowns passes and two fourth-quarter interceptions for the Panthers, who have lost three straight.

Week 7: Oct. 20 at Washington L
Commanders lose Jayden Daniels to rib injury in a 40-7 romp over the Panthers
The Commanders did just fine without Daniels for a vast majority of the game. Behind two touchdown passes from Mariota and a 67-yard pick-6 of Andy Dalton by Dante Fowler....Dalton finished 11 of 16 for 93 yards, and Young entered in mop-up duty with 4:55 left, completing two passes for negative yardage.

Week 8: Oct. 27 at Denver L
Rookie Bo Nix has 3 TD passes in leading the Broncos to a 28-14 win over the Panthers
In the best game yet of his rookie season, the Broncos quarterback Bo Nix threw for 284 yards. Courtland Sutton caught eight of Nix's passes for 100 yards...Young was 24 for 37 for 224 yards with two TDs and two interceptions. Young fell to 2-17 in his career and 0-3 this season.

Week 9: Nov. 3 vs New Orleans W
Chuba Hubbard runs for 2 TDs, Young leads winning drive as Panthers beat Saints 23-22
Young came up big Sund. He completed 16 of 26 passes for 171 yards a touchdown and led a winning TD drive. Hubbard ran for 72 yards and two touchdowns, including the go-ahead 16-yard scoring burst with 2:18 remaining....Alvin Kamara ran for 155 yards on 29 carries and caught six passes for 60 yards for the Saints. Derek Carr finished 18 of 31 for 236 yards with one touchdown pass.

Week 10: Nov. 10 vs. N.Y. Giants (Munich, Germany) W
Pineiro's 36-yard field goal in OT lifts Panthers to 20-17 win over Giants in Germany
Bryce Young was 15 for 25 for 126 yards and a touchdown pass. Chuba Hubbard, who received a four-year contract extension worth a reported $33.2 million earlier in the week, had 28 carries for 153 yards and a touchdown for the Panthers....Daniel Jones was 22 for 37 for 190 yards and two interceptions and Tracy had 18 carries for 103 yards and a touchdown for the Giants.

Prescott's deal makes him the first player to average $60 million per season and ends months of speculation about his future with the Cowboys, who have won 12 games in each of the past three years with him....Watson played for the first time since breaking a bone in his right shoulder in November. Cleveland's QB didn't play during the preseason and the Browns' new-look offense didn't look very good with him running it.

Week 2: Sept. 15 vs. New Orleans L
Carr, Kamara help Saints end Cowboys' 16-game home win streak in regular season with 44-19 win
Carr threw for 243 yards and two TDs to go along with a 1-yard sneak for a score. Kamara, had 180 scrimmage yards (115 rushing) and scored four touchdowns.,..Prescott was 27 of 39 for 293 yards

Week 3: Sept. 22 vs. Baltimore L
Henry rushes for 151 yards, 2 TDs as Ravens hang on to beat Cowboys 28-25
Henry, who averaged 6 yards on 25 carries, became the first Baltimore back to score at least one touchdown in each of his first three games for the franchise. He added a 23-yard catch. Jackson was 12 of 15 for 182 yards....Brandon Aubrey kicked a 65-yard field goal for the Cowboys, 1 yard shy of the NFL record from 2021 held by the kicker on the other sideline, Baltimore's Justin Tucker.

Week 4: Sept. 26 at NY Giants W
Dak Prescott throws 2 TD passes and Cowboys win 7th straight over Giants, 20-15
Dak Prescott threw one of his two touchdown passes to CeeDee Lamb and hit running back Rico Dowdle on a 15-yard screen pass for a touchdown; Brandon Aubrey kicked field goals of 60 and 40 yards...Greg Joseph made field goals of 52, 41, 38, 22 and 42 for the Giants (1-3), who controlled the ball for 35:37

Week 5: Oct. 6 at Pittsburgh W
Prescott throws TD pass to Tolbert with 20 seconds left to lift Cowboys past Sreelers, 20-17
Prescott had spent the previous three-plus hours mixing brilliant plays and baffling ones in equal measure, throwing a pair of picks and fumbling once to almost single-handedly keep the sluggish Steelers in the game....Fields threw for 131 yards two scores and added 27 yards rushing but struggled with his accuracy, completing just 15 of 27 passes.

Week 6: Oct. 13 vs. Detroit L
Jared Goff throws 3 TD passes, Lions hand Cowboys another lopsided home loss
Goff went on to throw for 315 yards and three touchdowns, David Montgomery ran for two scores. Detroit led 27-6 at the break....Prescott threw two interceptions in the worst home loss since 1988 for the Cowboys (3-3), who became the first team since at least 2000 to trail by 14 or more more points at halftime in four consecutive games on their home field, playoffs included.

Brock Purdy helps the 49ers bounce back with a 30-24 victory over Cowboys
Purdy bounced back from a three-interception performance last week against the Chiefs to go 18 for 26 for 260 yards and had a TD run and threw a TD. George Kittle, who finished with six catches for 128 yards...Prescott finished 25 for 38 for 243 yards and threw two interceptions for a third straight game. Lamb caught 13 passes for 146 yards.

Week 9: Nov. 3 at Atlanta L
Cousins throws 3 TD passes, 1st-place Falcons hand Cowboys 3rd straight loss 27-21
Cousins completed 19 of 24 passes for 222 yards, including 13 in a row at one point. Mooney had five catches for 88 yards, while McCloud hauled in his first TD of the season. Bojan Robinson had another big day, carrying 19 times for 86 yards and hauling in a team-high seven receptions for 59 yards....The Cowboys tried to rally behind Cooper Rush after Prescott was ruled out, having completed 18 of 24 for 133 yards and a touchdown. Rush guided an 86-yard drive in the closing minutes.

Hurts accounts for 4 TDs as Eagles roll past bumbling, Prescott-less Cowboys 34-6
Jalen Hurts threw two touchdown passes and ran for a pair of scores, he was 14 of 20 for 202 yards with 56 yards rushing. Hurts shook off two sacks from Micah Parsons....Cooper Rush didn't look anything like the replacement who went 4-1 filling in for Prescott two years ago, going 13 of 23 for just 45 yards and was replaced briefly by Trey Lance
