Dallas Cowboys declining fifth-year option on LB Leighton Vander Esch, agent says
Vander Esch's best season came as a rookie, when he was named to the Pro Bowl after the Cowboys selected him No. 19 overall. He had a franchise-rookie-record 176 tackles in 2018. Vander Esch's injury history is the biggest reason.

Dallas Cowboys' draft (mostly) all about a defense that needed change
After allowing a franchise-record 473 points and 6,183 yards in Nolan's one year as coordinator, the Cowboys knew they had to make a drastic change in 2021 on defense. It started in January with the hiring of Dan Quinn as coordinator and culminated over the 2021 NFL draft with a first in team history.

Former NFL WR Chad Johnson to fight on Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Logan Paul undercard

Former NFL receiver Chad Johnson is planning to trade in his cleats for boxing gloves next month. Johnson has agreed to fight in an exhibition bout on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Logan Paul on June 6 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, Mayweather's promotion team told ESPN on Monday. It's likely to be a four- or six-round exhibition bout and the opponent has not been finalized yet. The expectation is Johnson, 43, will face another celebrity or athlete rather than a pro boxer. Johnson first discussed the exhibition bout on the "I AM ATHLETE" podcast Monday with former NFL players Brandon Marshall, Channing Crowder and Fred Taylor. Johnson, a Miami native, jumped at the opportunity when approached by Mayweather's manager Leonard Ellerbe about being a part of this card. Johnson trained for years at Mayweather's boxing club in the offseason when he was an NFL player and has long been a combat sports fan, but this will be his first big stage exhibition fight.

Mayweather (50-0, 27 KOs), 44, retired after defeating MMA star Conor McGregor by 10th-round TKO in a boxing match in 2017 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Mayweather has won titles as a junior lightweight, lightweight, junior welterweight, welterweight and junior middleweight. Mayweather will be returning to the ring in this exhibition bout against Paul (0-1 0 KOs).The 26-year-old is the older brother of Jake Paul, who recently defeated Ben Askren by first-round knockout. Logan Paul lost a split decision to fellow YouTube star KSI, whose real name is Olajide William Olatunji, in November 2019.
