I will be sleeping through Jimmy's rise from the dead. (srsly, I'm out by 10:30)
He'll definitely have a ratings bump from this kerfuffle. Probably won't last long, because late night tv is dead. I don't know why they don't cancel all of them, and show reruns or something in that time slot. Maybe it is nostalgia for the old days. Johnny Carson reruns come on one of the ota channels, and I try to watch it sometimes. It was nearly as cheesy as the modern shows, but it didn't have to compete with the internet (or cable and streaming), and the times were different. He did make fun of politicians, but he spread the jokes around without worrying about pissing off one side or the other. Back then we didn't expect tv show hosts and comedians to wear their political affiliation at all times, they could just make jokes about the silly shit.

It will be really good news if tonight's show is highly rated, because a quarter of ABC's local stations still won't be airing the show, because they are owned by Trump-loving companies. So if he still manages record ratings despite being dark in 25% of the country, that would be a real statement.

False: Kimmel is also streamed next-day on Hulu (depending on whether or not one has cancelled their subscription after this) and clips of his show, including the monologue, are always uploaded to YouTube.
