BAG O' BOOKS

I think you two would enjoy Kiln People by David Brin.

My wife and the guy who sits next to me at work both also really like the Dresden Files books... Again just guessing as to your preferences.

No, it's still sitting there waiting for me, lol. I have several books that I do that with, I know they're good so I save them OR SOMETHING I DON'T KNOW.

I'll see if I can find Kiln People next time I'm shopping for books, I hope Brin's writing improved after Sundiver. That was his first novel, wasn't it?

Sorry you can't find The Atrocity Archives curiousa2z, I think you'd like it a lot. It's funny and scary and weird. The IT guy is keeping the monsters away, lol.

Most Brin stuff is just OK, the rest of that series is better than Sundiver but the last book was also lame so kinda :/ overall

Dan Simmons and Stephen King are probably the only two authors that I think almost-everything is good.

Which book should I read first? TELL ME.

Virtual Light, by William Gibson.
Even Cowgirls Get the Blues, by Tom Robbins
The Compass Rose, by Ursula K. Le Guin
Cat's Cradle, by Kurt Vonnegut Jr
Hocus Pocus, by Kurt Vonnegut Jr
Dawn, by Octavia Butler
The Atrocity Archives, by Charles Stross
Under Pressure, by Frank Herbert

Virtual Light.

Oh, me too, don't get me wrong. I particularly dislike this one very violent phase he had -- "the Dark Half" and "Rose Madder" were part of that.

Prospero is, I think, what the internet became, after it became self aware. The Prospero they saw was sort of a projection. The one on the satellite was a hologram, but the one on the cable care was different, but still a projection of some kind (I think).

sounds like a plan -thanks for the invite Cassie! The storyline sounds interesting. Is this a group you've belonged to for awhile? Do you just read Sci-Fi? Is it on-line and do I have to make intelligent comments as we go along? (as opposed to the usual drunken comments I post in the MF?)

Yeah, it's on another forum, and semi intelligent comments are fine, lol. You're a lot smarter than most of those yahoos. It's a general science fiction forum, most of the members are also Dune fanatics and the site was created when Dreamers of Dune died 5yrs ago. I will pm the link!

I've never read any of his books, so I'm looking forward to it. Several people I talk to are big fans, you should have told me about him! lol
