Battlestar Galactica

That's an idea, Neon. Kara's Viper could've traveled through some kind of time portal to end up on Earth when she's really still alive. Although time travel doesn't seem like BSG's cup of tea.

Oh and in the RDM interview he explained that Earth was really Dee's last hope. Billy had died and Lee and her had divorced, the idea of Earth being out there was the only thing that kept her going from day to day, through a miserable life. I'm not sure how much significance the jacks had, but RDM said the scene where they're coming back to Galactica on the raptor is when she made her decision.

Well, I saw it all. I posted over at Sci Fi. And it was a dumb post, because they don't give you enough data. It's all so hazy and I hate that. It makes me feel as though I'm postulating blindly, and in the dark.

Oh yeah, finally remembered to bump this. Good episode. Dee's suicide was pretty shocking and disturbing. But it made perfect sense in the context of the story. They've been looking for Earth since the mini series and they finally find it and it's a nuclear wasteland. That would be pretty depressing. It wasn't enough just to show random crewmembers fighting in the coriddors, they had to have a pretty major character off herself to make it "real". Still, it's a shame. She was hot.

I have no idea what's going to happen with the final five stuff and I'd prefer to just wait a few episodes before speculating, because it could go anywhere really.

OK. I can't read anymore because I don't want to catch spoilers for when I finally get around to seeing all this, but that photo of Tyrol, slumped on the beach? I so want him to be looking up at a wrecked Statue of Liberty. :D

YOU GODDAMN DIRTY APES!

We still don't know if it's our Earth. Have we gotten a good look at the shape of the continents yet?

Yeah, last year when they showed earth, I think Africa was visible.

I still think everything they showed in the premiere episode is a fluke.

Maybe the head people are cylons from Earth who haven't uploaded to new bodies?

The very end of last season gave us a good view of North America:

Uh oh.. the Cylons have triangulated your location and will be arriving shortly. Not the hot cylons, either.

Over at the main site, I'm trying to figure out how Cylons came to be in the first place. Human cloning for spare parts, to make for virtual immortality. The brain can't be cloned, because it is a product of it's environment, and there will be significant differences in perception, a divergence, that would make the copy not resemble the original. Then come cybernetic bodies in which the original brain can now be housed. Then the algorhythms can be preserved and down loaded. Without jump tech, a trip from Earth to Kobol might last a Millenia. The twelve escaped Earth, in a crappy ship, when a war broke out over who was entitled to the virtual immortality. We see the result. The twelve make it to Kobol just as the Centurians are rebelling. They jump in and use humans to develop the resurrection chambers. No one knows. They see the opportunity to seize control.

D'Anna wants to stay behind because she suspects there is a resurrection facility somewhere on the planet.

We all remember that, but the question people are asking, is whether the Earth in the image is the Earth that they've ended up at? We haven't seen any clear views of the continents on the Earth that's nuked, so it could well be an entirely different planet. RDM says they're on the real Earth, but we can't trust him!

The only evidence that they might really be on Earth is the shot that showed a bridge that looked like Brooklyn Bridge, but it could've easily been a red herring.

He and Katie Sackhoff said Kara was dead and it wouldn't be one of those "oh, here she is alive again" type things and then she did indeed come back to life. So we can't be sure he's telling the truth.

Personally, I believe it really is Earth, because I remember them saying it would be discovered fairly early in the season. But they're definitely being coy about it by not giving us conclusive evidence, so we can't be certain.

Maybe it's like in TOS where there's alternate Earths where children don't age and mobsters live.

Plus there's the NYC skyline to consider. I think it's THE earth.

IT'S NOT NYC

It wasn't really "the NY skyline", it was one bridge that resembled Brooklyn Bridge quite strongly. I remember reading at the time that the land mass on the other side of that bay was too far away or the wrong shape or something.

It would be cool if it was NY, though, because that would mean the inhabitants of Earth were probably us lot and the Colonials aren't human at all, but actually the Cylons we created.
