Yeah I think they would have at least asked Anders first (but there wasn't time to show everything.) They could have let him go away with the centurions on the baseship though, maybe.
 
Good point, that would've made a lot more sense.
 
But the centurians were given their freedom and a ship of their own to command, that isnt such a prise when one of the original 5 is still around above them.

Maybe they just couldn't disconnect him from Galactica, but you'd think Tyrol would be able to sort something out.
 
Of course we never actually saw the ship enter the sun, he could have jumped at the last moment and let the cylon organic paste work its way throughout the ship, after 150,000 years the galctica could be solid organic metal appart from CIC, and virtually indestructible.
 
Maybe Kara appeared in CIC and said "let's get the hell out of here!"
