Ron Rivera feels 'pretty good' about returning as Panthers head coach for the ninth year despite missing the playoffs for the second time in three seasons.

If the Panthers lose to New Orleans on Sunday, they will become the first team since the league expanded to a 16-game schedule in 1978 to go from 6-2 to 6-10.

Panthers DE Julius Peppers, 38, now needs one sack to pass Kevin Greene for third place on the NFL's all-time sack list in what could be his last game. He now has 159.5.

The milestones keep coming for RB Christian McCaffrey, he has over 1,500 career receiving yards.

He joined Herschel Walker and Alvin Kamara as only two players with 1,500-plus receiving yards and 1,500 rushing yards in his first two NFL seasons.

Panthers middle linebacker Luke Kuechly again named to the AP NFL All-pro team.

Second year running back Christian McCaffrey makes second-team All-pro at the flex position.

Panthers DT Kawann Short is headed to the Pro Bowl after being named the replacement for LA Rams DT Aaron Donald, who is going to the Super Bowl.

Short was selected for the Pro Bowl after the 2015 season, but couldn't play because Carolina went to the Super Bowl.
