curiousa2z - LET'S TALK ABOUT BOOKS OK?

I hate how all the names are the same in the book! I think wiki has a family tree diagram that you can print out, might make it easier.

ha! here's synchronisity: ran into one of my favourite peeps, back from living in Mexico for five years. She's now perfectly fluent - and guess what book she's reading in the original language? She says it's even better in Spanish... AND she agreed with our complaints about everybody having the same bloody names, lol. But she's inspired me to press on.

I haven't been reading either lately. I should try and get back into it soon.

Cassie have you been able to pick up the book at all? i sorta blew it last week with all the getting ready for back to school stuff...good thing it's not due yet.

I totally spaced on reading the book. I'll have to start carrying it around with me so I don't forget.

Good! Now i don't have to feel badly. This one's taking us longer than the others.

Yeah, it's harder to read. The next book we read should be something fun, lol.

two books to read:

HEllo Groin by beth goobie

plot is terrible and gay(quite literally, which was a plus) but there are some insightful quotes to be taken from this book!

and King Dork, for the same reason
:)

I've never heard of Beth Goobie, what kind of book is it? (besides gay!)

Stranger in a Strange Land is REALLY disappointing so far (but I still haven't read much)...it's just a woman running about a hospital.

I used to love Heinlein, but the last time I tried to read one of his books I didn't care for it. Seems really dated.

Sweet Zombie jesus on a stick!
ok, I renewed the Hundred years of Solitude, but I am ready to cheat and just read the bloody end to be done with it! This is starting to feel like REQUIRED READING AND NO FUN ANY MORE!
Cassie - any thoughts about the book before we ABANDON IT?
IMHO the Pulitzers are better than Nobel Prize Winners - burn me as a heretic, but!

Yeah, I agree. It's kinda painful to read, I don't remember this being so long and drawn out before. THERE IS NO SHAME IN GIVING UP!

*whew!*

starts trolling (you should pardon the expression) for a new book for us to read.

I really wouldn't mind something light and fun.

I concur!
have you read any of Christopher Moore's books?

He has a new one coming out called Fool, which I don't know anything about yet,
but he's written lots - the ones I've read include:
The Stupidest Angel (wherein the same angel raises up zombies by accident); Lamb, about Jesus' brother Biff; A Dirty Job, about the actual person Death (my fave so far); Coyote Blue (about the Trickster Coyote); You Suck (about vampires but it's my least favourite);and some others I can't remember right now!

He's very funny, and even if we don't choose a book by him to read you should read at least one anyway!

I'm currently reading The Sign of Four by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

So far it's a good story.

I'm not sure what I'm going to read after this, perhaps a couple of Doyle's Holmes short stories, but I might prefer something else.

If Choke by Chuck Palahniuk comes available by the time im done with what I'm reading now , I'll read that.

I downloaded some Palahniuk books a while ago but only read Fight Club. Should I read more?

I found his stuff kind of overrated, honestly.
