We're 40 years into the "War on Drugs" and no, many people still feel it's a lesson that need not be taught in the first place.

There aren't magazines, conventions and political lobby organizations dedicated to making crack or coke legal. People aren't idiots. This is one of those issues where government would rather turn a blind eye and treat people like idiots, because it makes their jobs easier.

Well, that's because the elected officials that come up with these rules are Idiots that should never have had the power in the first place.
BTW: I do agree that pot should be downgraded a lot and the harder, more violent drugs ought to be priority.)
Just remember, pot smokers are easy to catch, because they are usually on a couch in a really relaxed position. The numbers look better.
