50/50 chance of going from an A to a B in a 5 unit Japanese class, almost definite B/C in US History, definite B in 5 unit math. I'm a perfectionist and a slacker; the two rarely combine in any productive ways. Knowing that my GPA's going to drop by like half a point and severely damage my chances of transferring to Berkeley didn't help.

Have you seen I Heart Huckabees? My friend was the characters of Jude Law, Jason Schwartzman, Naomi Watts, and Mark Wahlberg rolled up in one. I talked to him about the sociological roots of human society, the stupidity of the common man, and infinity, let him have acid, and allowed him to interpret all the things we were talking about in a very literal way, because he couldn't even understand the concepts on the oversimplified and basic levels I was talking on. The root ideas I was trying to instill in him were that he creates his own reality and things only matter as much as they let him, kind of my way of trying to teach him to cope with paranoid mood swings - what he calls "Oomphs." Of course, those only became worse when they told him I was fucking with him, and I felt truly bad about it. He'd been telling me that I was the only person who'd ever understood him, I was all that mattered to him, and I felt as if I'd betrayed him (maybe rightfully so).
