Finally saw Star Trek

And Nimoy's in a few episodes as well. Not to mention Orci and Kurtzman are exec producers. It's a big JJ gang bang!

Although in Trek before they've always been able to "reset" the timeline (Voyager's Year Of Hell, DS9's The Visitor etc) so it's a pretty big change. Then again there's the Mirror Universe which does point to some kind of Star Trek Multiverse.

Maybe Q preseves all the original timelines out of a sense of nostalgia.

Actually, they needed to open up the ability to write new stories that won't infringe on the original series.
This way, they've wiped the slate clean.
This can also lead into a whole new trek TV series.
They are not restrained by what has happened before because they have just altered the course of prerecorded history.

Well yeah, obviously that's the real world reason, BUT STAR TREK IS BIGGER THAN THE REAL WORLD.

Why didn they get you to play Scotty?

And, why aren't the red shirts all played by the same guy?

That would be funny.
The Clone wars/Oompa Loompa/Aeon Flux.

are we now supposed to believe that throughout the whole of TOS, TNG etc, there are two Mr. spock's running around? One old and one young?

No, it's an alternate timeline.

Though maybe they could edit Old Spok into old episodes in the background saying random things about thrusters.

No, it's an alternate timeline.

Although in the alternate timeline there are two Spocks running around. But one will probably shuffle off sooner or later. :(

Yeah, old Spock is looking pretty rough.

Well if they ever redo wrath of Khan you can have young Spock head off to the engine room to find old Spock is already in there, and the old one gets to die instead of him.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's a Wrath of Nero as the third movie. I don't think we know for sure he died, there's certainly some leeway there. Could have jumped in an escape pod and gone through to the other side of the worm/blackhole before the super duper explosion?

And then he comes back to leave the Enterprise as Kirk left him, buuurrriieeedd allllivvveee.

Maybe he'll come back WITH THE BORG!!!

AS LONG AS THE SISKO IS STILL OF BAJOR, THEY CAN DO WHATEVER THEY WANT.

Sisko isn't linear so he should be unchanged in the new timeline!

I wish I had a celestial temple to hang out in for a few eons when I didn't feel linear.

It's like you're reading my mind.
