Heroes

Spin that geek bottle, Tis!

A lot of these characters' powers can be compared to a lot of different comic book characters and plots, but as a longtime comic book reader I am VERY impressed in the shows ability to tweak things in an interesting manner and take things down new, unexplored paths and tangents. And where Smallville failed (IMO) in that it just CRAWLED along, Heroes kicks ass on a weekly basis. I never feel cheated, or that enough isn't being done to develop the plot or characters. This is a ride I am more than content to just enjoy for what it is.

The problem with Smallville is that there is no uniqueness to that show, even though its origins does. Nearly every person with a power is that way because of the meteors, and that gets old REAL fast.

I also hate Lana with a passion; she is the most depressed, screwed up woman in that town, yet men are drawn to her. That's a plot device that needs to stop.

Back to the topic at hand, I loved when HRG realized that the Haitian could talk, saying "And guess who found out you can talk!" and threw him up against the wall.

I never thought HRG was evil, but someone in a difficult situation. Also, it looked to me like he shot Clyde accidentally at first, like the gun just went off. You see how shocked he was by that. But then he kept shooting him...don't know what that was for.

I definitley got the impression that he shot Claude without much conviction at first then followed through since it was a job half done. how the hell Claude survived getting capped two or three times (can't remember) and then falling off the bridge is beyond me. Maybe we will find out later, or he could of just been very, very lucky.

I might have to return to having a Heroes avatar actually. I've already had HRG so I think it might be time for the Ecclecake

Well, we don't actually know that Claude FELL off the bridge, do we? There wasn't a splash that I recall. He probably just hung around, bleeding his invisible blood.

Agreed.

Hell, the most evil person on the show, outside of Sylar, seems to be Nate and Pete's MOM!

Peter's mum is a sup0r bitch. Nathan is an interesting character though. He is highly morally ambiguous but at the same time shows flashes of inherent goodness. It will be interesting to see where that goes.

I agree about Nathan, but at the same time, I thought it was rather naive of him to believe that his daughter wouldn't want to see him. He could have done some further investigating, imo.

As for how Claude survived. Wasn't he attempting to go invisible after the first shot? I know he got hit, but maybe because he was, well shimmering is the only word I can think to use, at the time, it didn't do as much damage as it would have done had he not had that ability.

One more thing that has to do with Matt, though it's from a past episode, it was interesting that he was able to pick up on Nikki and Jessica's conversation with each other. Did you see the look on Nikki's face when she realized he could hear them?

And with that final thought, I'm leaving work and heading home. Yay!!!!!!!!

He's tough, there's no doubt, but, ultimately, I think he's a selfish coward.

So, I don't recall, who did he sex up while in Vegas, Niki, or Jessica?

Oh, wait, never mind, I remember now - JESSICA!

That was a pretty interesting way to present Niki and Jessica's conversation in the stairwell, though, by showing them BOTH on the stairwell. What does this mean? Are they starting to be able to manifest themselves as separate physical beings, or was that just a unique way for the producers/writers to show their internal struggle?

Matt being able to hear both, though, didn't really surprise me since they are, for all intents and purposes, separate characters.

It makes sense since they both have their own thoughts so they both should be able to be read.

Bump.

Smallville vs. Heroes - a comic geek common denominator: JEPH LOEB!

And Stan Lee's DRIVING TEH BUS! HA!

The symbol turns up everywhere. He wears it as an adult as well.

And the Heroeswiki version has pics of all the appearences. http://www.heroeswiki.com/The_Symbol

There haven't been many new ones lately though. The more recent ones seem more like in jokes than occurrences related to the plot.

Anyway, getting back to Bennet shooting at Claude, I wondered if someone else who was watching had used a power to shoot the gun remotely. Bennet seemed really, really surprised at it going off. Could've been an accident.. it's hard to tell. They probably want us wondering. :) As for Claude, he obviously didn't fall off the bridge, but he still should've had trouble surviving those bullets.

Interesting spoilers about the rest of the season, too.

Cypress (Simone), who invited a few friends over to her home last night "to watch me die," says she is not the only Heroes actor set to die before season's end. "I know of one other person who's going to get it," she says. "This person dealt with it a lot better than I did. Even though they warn you from the get-go that people are going to die, it's a miserable feeling."

There is some good news for Cypress: She certainly won't be going hungry. The single mom to son Dexter, 6, has a new boyfriend: restaurateur Tom Dillon, who "is the love of my life." And she's set to make at least two more appearances on Heroes, one of which is the show's two-hour finale, set to shoot at the end of March

Now let's speculate as to who will die!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Haitian will make the ultimate sacrifice for his "own" people, when Eric Robert's character realizes he can talk, and tries to force him to reveal where Claire is, but rather than betray a fellow "hero" he takes his own life!

Heh...totally made that up. But it could happen. I've got way too much fucking time on my hands this evening.

Tim Kring, creator of NBC's hit series Heroes, told SCI FI Wire that the upcoming second season will constitute a new volume in the multi-volume series, with new characters and an entirely new storyline. "If you remember, the opening of the pilot pronounced the episode as the beginning of Volume One," Kring said in an interview. "Volume One comes to a conclusion at the end of episode 23, and Volume Two starts with the opening of season two. And Volume Two is a different story."

Kring added: "We could have new people and new storylines and new ideas and new threats and new bad guys and new heroes. So I would prepare the audience for that idea, that it's not just a continuing serialized storyline about only these people. It's a little more the 24 model than the Lost model."

The first season of Heroes is exploring what happens when a disparate group of ordinary people discover they have extraordinary abilities and attempt to save New York from disaster.

"Heroes needs to evolve, and if we are positing an idea that this is happening all over the world to many, many people, then we get to see some of those people and see how their story fits in."

Kring also confirmed that some of the current heroes just might not survive this season, but added: "Many of your favorites will live to fight again."

We know Isaac gets his top screwed off.

I think Matt Parkman's a good candidate for some kind of self-sacrifice.

DL's expendable, but it would suck if Micah bit it! Kill Niki/Jessica.

I would be upset if Claire eats it.

I agree on the Matt Parkman sacrifice. I don't see him making it past this season. DL and Nikki/Jess are definitley candidates as well.

I wouldn't be surprised if the White haired character they previewed for next weeks episode ends up being none other than Donald Sutherland.

Not necessarily, we saw him dead when Hiro went forward in time to a few moments before the explosion, but in Peter's premonition set at the same time, Isaac was on the other side of the city pulling Simone(now dead of course) away.

We know that Hiro's actions can change events that've already happened and we also know that Peter's dreams aren't always 100% accurate, so whether Isaac actually ends up being killed by Sylar or the explosion, or not dying at all is completely unknown.

I don't think Nikki/Jessica will die since a) they're super strong and b) they're really interesting. Plus, the series only has two main characters who are women. DL could pop his clogs, though. I wouldn't care either way if Wigum died, he's not that interesting. At the very least, his wife'll probably bite it.

Proving Pete's premonitions are questionable at best.

We know that Hiro's actions can change events that've already happened and we also know that Peter's dreams aren't always 100% accurate, so whether Isaac actually ends up being killed by Sylar or the explosion, or not dying at all is completely unknown.

Hiro's track record is interesting to say the least. A wiser, battle-hardened Hiro pops back into the past to warn Peter of upcoming things, to put him on the right path, so to speak. Why would he find it necessary to do that unless the "original" timeline involved Claire being killed and everything bad that spun off after that. (Presumably, Sylar really fucks shit up in that un-altered future.) So, now (as far as we know) Peter did what he was supposed to: He saved the cheerleader! So, one could assume, then, that the future that Hiro was trying to avoid has been averted, right? Bully for Hiro!

Yet, a younger Hiro was unable to save or change the fate of his friend, that waitress in TX. There are limiations to his powers we (Hiro included!) are not aware of yet.

So, the question becomes, the future that Hiro witnessed, where Isaac was dead, and the explosion goes off, has that been changed because of Hiro's involvement, of Peter saving the cheerleader, thereby avoiding the future that Hiro was warning against, OR does his involvement actually make THAT scenario come to pass?

I think Isaac's going to die. I think NY's going to be blown up. I think Pete's involved. But in a way we haven't seen yet.

Ok... tell you what, let's kill Niki, but keep Jessica. She's the more interesting of the two, anyway, plus Ali Larter's a hottie to boot. Although, for the life of me, I don't know why in all the promo shots for Heroes where Larter is pictured they always have her wearing those ugly, frumpy tops, squashing the sexah factor right outta her!

Kill DL, but keep Micah around.
