Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott (calf strain) must 'cross the threshold' to play Sunday​


Prescott went through an extended warm-up prior to practice and did not take part in the individual footwork drills with the rest of the quarterbacks, but he went through simulated drops off to the side while coach Mike McCarthy watched. Later, he threw passes to his running backs, receivers and tight ends without any issues. Prescott suffered the injury on the winning touchdown pass to Lamb in overtime against the New England Parriots, and the Cowboys benefitted from having their bye, with executive vice president Stephen Jones saying "it would've been a tough one" for Prescott to have played last week.

There is no drama this week: Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott will start Sunday against the Denver Broncos. "Safe to say," Prescott said. Prescott did not play last week because of a right calf strain he suffered in the Oct. 17 win against the New England Patriots on his game-winning touchdown pass to CeeDee Lamb in overtime.

Dallas Cowboys DE Randy Gregory expected to miss multiple weeks with calf injury​


The Dallas Cowboys will be without defensive end Randy Gregory for "multiple weeks" after he suffered a calf injury in Wednesday's practice, according to coach Mike McCarthy. It is possible Gregory could go on injured reserve, which would cost him at least the next three games. Right now, the Cowboys plan to replace Gregory from within their roster and not look for free-agent help. Gregory is tied with Micah Parsons for the team lead in sacks with five and leads the team with 20 quarterback pressures. He also has forced two fumbles and recovered one as he has emerged as a key player on defense after suspensions marred the early part of his career.

Dan Quinn's defense has more to fix, but he's remade himself with Cowboys​


Dan Quinn was ready for the question. He knew it was coming. His answer might as well have been written on his call sheet this week. For parts of six seasons, Quinn was the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons. He had them on the brink of a Super Bowl LI title -- until then-New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady led a comeback from a 25-point deficit. But Quinn was winless through five games in 2020 and was relieved of his job. He is eight games into his job as the Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator and faces Atlanta for the first time Sunday since his firing (1 p.m. ET, Fox).
