Hypocrite Notice

....and Powell later went on to admit that he ignored key elements of the intelligence that simply did not support the WMD theory.

No, actually, they are looking to get economic development incentives.
Ground Zero Muslim center may get public financing
That is part of my job, Jack, economic development incentives. I don't know New York law on ED projects, but I do know what local development corporations are and how they work. It is a tool to get businesses to move to cities to provide jobs for the citizens and to increase the tax base to pay for city services like water, roads, parks, libraries, etc. In this instance, the purpose of the corporation is to issue bonds to pay for the project. The project has to be financially able to repay the bonds. In this instance, the debt is tax free. In other words, they get $70 million tax free to build their project. Yes, they have to pay the $70 million bonds off and more than likely to qualify for an ED incentive program they will have to raise the ad valorem tax value of the property so many millions above the current value by a certain time, more than likely by January 1, 2012. However, what is the tax rate on $70 million in New York City right now? Probably 10%. You don't think that is a nice chunk of change to give them to build their project? They already got the property for about $14 million less than the asking price.

I'm all for economic development. It is good for people and communities. However, people need to know the mechanics of what they are doing instead of just blindly spouting some PC garbage to make themselves feel like they are enlightened, and educated, and morally righteous, and better than somebody else who doesn't see things the way they do.

It's still a private project. They have the same playing field to play on as any other private entrepeneur.

Can't play Church & State on this one I'm afraid. and don't get me wrong, I'm utterly revolted at the latent passive-aggressiveness of the desire for the building right in that particular spot.

But still, in America business is business, whatever the mask. or mosque, in this case.

We had good reason to believe Saddam had WMD because we sold them to him, Germany sold them to him, Russia was trading them to him, other countries were dealing them to him, and Saddam stood there rattling his sabers and making his threats.

If you ever read the WMD inspection reports that were made prior to the war, during the times Saddam let the inspectors in, you would wonder what the heck was going on. In report after report, an inspector showed up somewhere, the people there told him the WMD had been destroyed, and without any proof to that the inspector just marked it down as done. Even though Saddam's scuds were supposedly gone and accounted for - per the inspectors - Saddam seemed to come up with a few to throw at Saudi Arabia there at the end.

If Bush had lied about WMD, don't you think the soldiers would have found something, even if some black ops group had to plant it there? I do. Instead all they found was a warehouse full of buried hazmat suits. Why in the heck did he bury all those hazmat suits?

What we had was so many countries doing undercover deals with Saddam and not being forthright about it when it was down to the nitty gritty on what to do about him. Instead of just admitting what they'd done and taking inventory, they skirted around each other so no one could trust that Saddam didn't have a serious arsenal.

That isn't revisionist history. Revisionist history is that Saddam was just some poor old guy, just minding his own business, trying to run his poor, underprivileged country and not messing with anybody about anything. Poor thing.

Revisionist history forgets that when Saddam came into power that Iraq was a favored nation with high literacy, a ton of money in the bank and no debt. Under Saddam, the rivers literally ran dry and he bankrupted the country because of his war efforts against Iran and then his attack on Kuwait. Revisionist history forgets that the Saudis asked America to help them keep Saddam off their doorstep. That is what pissed off Osama because the Saudi king rejected Osama's request to take his own private army and oust Saddam from Kuwait and protect Saudi Arabia. Osama did not want then just like he does not want now for the infidel to be on Muslim sacred ground.

It is too early in the morning.

There will be other factors considered here. What portion of the project will be tax exempt because it is a mosque? How will that affect the ad valorem tax rate? How will they repay the bonds? Will the residents of NYC have to eat that debt if the mosque developer can't pay the debt?

And, yes, there is a difference between this project and some other project because of the tax exemption on the mosque portion of the project. Another project there without a religious tax exemption would provide more tax revenue for the city.

I wonder why the developer who intended to put living facilities there was swayed to turn the project into the Mosque project.

And, yes, I still read the Arab newspapers. It is very, very interesting. You should try it sometime.

My point about reading Arabic newspapers is you might be surprised about the foreign opinion about building that mosque project at that location. It isn't a popular idea and many think that the location was chosen for the purpose of claiming a victory in the murder of so many people on 9/11/01, that it is in bad taste, that it does more harm than good, and that it is unnecessary to build that project there.

The website you quoted is just another part of the problem. They can't just report the facts, they have to skew it. I wish people could report the truth as it is instead of how they want it to be to fit their agenda.

That's a pretty tall order. Is there or has there ever been an objective position? I don't think it's even possible. I certainly can't see anything anyway other then from my subjective position. Can you?

IMO It's a measure of maturity and speaks to the possibility of fairness (to the extent that can it can be achieved) when a person is at least aware of their leanings or prejudices.

I try very hard to perceive and examine my unreasonable ideas and subjective reasoning. I sure hope everyone else does too.

THEY'RE ALL HYPOCRITES, CASSIE!

ME TOO!

NOT REALLY!

FUCK YOU!

YOU HAVE NO OPINION!

Islam is the religion of Satan. I hear they hate pork because they like to kidnap good Christian babies and roast them for sandwiches. Also, they wear rags on their head and bump their head in front of an idol.
The Scriptures say idolators will be flung into the Lake of Fire, where the Saved will laugh in derision as they scream in agony forever.
