Well, that's one way to look at it. IMO, it's a depressing and maudlin way to look at it, but yeah, it's one way to look at it. The other way is: Have FUN! This is fuckin' clown world, crack a grin and unleash chaos!
 
Looking at their responses to the news that Rush Limbaugh has contracted lung cancer, we can divide them into two groups: classless fucking sadists wishing him a slow, painful, protracted death just because his opinions don't align with their own (that's that famous "liberal" reverence for "tolerance" and "diversity" for ya), and classless opportunists taking advantage of another human being's misfortune to push for "universal health care" -- i. .e., the D.M.V. of healthcare, the V.A. for everybody. Of the latter group, those, too, fall into two camps: People too fucking idiotic to know any better, and fucking sadists, who want us all to have to languish in a government-run health care system whose wait lists are so long that people in no small number have committed fucking suicide, sometimes publicly, just to shorten the process and arrive at the death they were going to end up at anyway just to cut to the chase.

Actually, at least where I live, the VA has been pretty darn good to me. I always got what I wanted/needed in a timely manner and all specialties were readily available at multiple locations all in my area. I admit not all cities are like that though but at least Vet’s Choice allows them to easily just go to any civilian provider they prefer if there is a wait time or the service isn’t offered in their area.

My one complaint is VA Medical, VA Benefits/Disability, and VARecords seem to all be separate entities which do not talk to each other so you have to get records from each one and send them to each of the other two. That is six transactions none of which would have been necessary if the three just shared the same system but they don’t. I had a problem where VA Medical said I owed them $700 because VA Benefits/Disabilty hadn’t told them my service connected rating. I just assumed when the VA awarded something to you the VA would automatically know about it but, sadly, no. They ended up docking my Jan pay for service connected injury by $700 so I called them to find out why, had them do an account audit, and it turned out that after taking the service connected parts out the total bill was only $125. Yet they had taken $700 so I filed for a refund of the difference and they told me it would take 60-90 days to get my money back. I work and make decent money so I am not worried about it but for poor vets I imagine waiting a quarter yearjust to get your own money back would suck.

Also my wife is not officially working yet (last year she was waiting for her green card and now she seems to just like being a house wife) and I needed to get health insurance for her and my stepson through my work. The prices were... Surprisingly high. I had to include myself too even though I already have VA because I can’t buy coverage for my family unless I also buy it for myself first.

Oh, well.
