I know it's wrong, but I just can't help it.

Wow, what an elitist prick you are.

I hope people that work in customer service positions like those spit in your morning coffee and hock a luggie in the burgers you buy. Cocksuckers like you deserve it.

If it wasn't for people doing those jobs, you might have to actually get off your better than thou fat ass and get your hands dirty.

Yeah, it takes massive amount of skill to spit and flip burgers. If you want them to live so well, tip them 200% next time you visit those places. Or start your own business and make all of your employees wealthy.

Not only are you too stupid to comprehend economics, but I bet you're too lazy to even prove your own hypocrisy. :)

Everyone deserves to make a living wage. Wal-Mart doesn't even pay that. And they actually cut their 'full time' employees hours off at 35 hours a week so they can skate by federal laws.

It's too bad zombie Sam Walton and his customer service managerial goons chain the doors and hold their employees at gunpoint so they don't get the chance to improve themselves during their off hours.

See, that's the problem. You don't understand the difference between 'living well' and receiving a fair and equitable living wage.

I don't expect anyone to become a millionaire working at Wal-Mart or flipping burgers for a living. But lets face it, if it wasn't for the people doing the 'skill less' customer service work, there'd be no company.

It's not a problem at all. When you're practically born with the ability to turn a spatula, the supply of people who could do so is infinite. Hence, they cannot be expected to live off that work - unless you're a kid earning spending money.

There's so much assistance for those who would just grab it. Community college, pell grants, state colleges that give discounts to high schoolers with good GPAs.

If it was easy, everybody would do it. It's the hard that makes it great.

Yes. Once we run out of the ~5B people in the world who would kill to flip burgers or stack shelves we are all fucked.

Free room and board while you get job training. I know alot of people in the military that used it to get paid to get their GED so they could get in the Army.

I've been pretty disappointed that no one, not Bush or Obama so far has been really pushing Jobcorp.. :/

^That's the plan. I got 9 days to do it. If I take any less I have to pay the Army back.

Gotta love the gubment! They're paying me for 9 days of moving, I take less, they make me pay them back!

Meh, you get paid what you're (potentially) worth to the company.
My (soon-to-be) employer is treating me like a God, currently. They're paying me insane amounts of money considering how shitty I really am. Come the day I actually start working though, they'll start ass-raping me.
That's the deal I'm knowingly entering into.

As others have pointed out, there are so many opportunities out there, there's really no excuse for you sucking so bad. If you just look at Wal-Mart - sure, they're no exactly treating their 2.1m employees perfectly but that's a) 2.1m jobs that otherwise wouldn't exist and b) if we assume that just 10% of Americans shop at Wal-Mart (the poorest 10%) that's 30m people that get insanely cheap stuff that they otherwise couldn't afford. Sounds like a pretty fucking great deal to me.

AND Wal*Mart gives jobs to people who otherwise wouldn't be hired anyplace else. So then if they hack it at Wal*Mart for a year or two, they have a shot at a better-paying job somewhere else. Wal*Mart is a starting point for people who would otherwise not get hired into the job market.

Wow.. you really love Walmart.

I haven't stepped foot in a Wal-Mart for years. But back when I was a starving college student, it was a godsend.

Also the deflationary pressure Wal-Mart placed on necessities helped wages to stay stagnant in America while productivity increased resulting in the longest period of sustained growth in decades.

I really have no choice but to shop at Walmart for some things. I live in an extremely small town (for Florida) and there aren't any other options, unless I want to drive 30 miles for shampoo, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, and socks. I could buy those things at the grocery store, but I need to spend the money I save on other necessities.

I don't have a problem with the wages Walmart pays its employees. I worked there a long time ago, and even though everyone wishes they were paid more, I feel like I was paid fairly for the job I did. Let's face it, being a cashier doesn't require a lot of brain power or hard physical labor.

My beef with Wal-Mart has nothing to do with the money they do or don't pay to their employees. It's having to stand in line for 30 minutes because they've got only two main lines open, and everything else is the self checkout where you get caught with people who don't know what the fuck their doing and you wait even longer.

If you're too stupid and lazy to get a decent education and thus a decent job, you deserve to work at Wal-mart and live like a fucking animal.

Poor people suck. Fuck them anyways.

That's another thing.

Decent jobs that people went to college for and that pay good are the first ones disappearing. People that spent 8 years in college and were making over $100,000 a year are finding themselves working 2 or three jobs at minium wage just to try and and stay afloat.

In short, those that used to be middle class are now approaching poverty level and being forced to live like fucking animals despite a good education and hard work.

So next time you spit on someone that works at Wal-Mart, keep in mind that just a year ago they may have been making far more than you do. And that next year, it may be you serving them coffee or running their purchases at the register.

Of course with your outlook on things, I wouldn't hire you, But I'd keep an eye out for you when I patrol in the city. Those 'will work for food' signs are pretty easy to spot. ;)

The fuck they are. You're just pulling some BS out of your ass here - companies are still hiring graduates and trying their best to keep their valuable employees (i.e. graduates) around for when the inevitable turnaround comes.

Besides, I would never spit on someone who works at Wal*Mart. I always have a kind word to say to the greeter, the cashier, and anyone who helps me find something in the store.

I wonder if maybe Sarek has spit on a Wal*Mart employee or two, though. :S:

Apparently in Sareks world, if you aren't poor now, and don't wish to make yourself poor to 'help the needy' you have never been poor and treat those who make less than you like shit.

I'm not getting it.

No, no. You're making this far more complex than it needs to be. The bottom line is that Sarek despises the sort of people who work at Wal*Mart. If he could, he'd cut them a nice gub'mint check so they could stay at home and he wouldn't have to see them. :cylon:

No, not here in Portland. If you worked for WalMart (or even Fred Meyer) and try to get a job at another grocery chain (Safeway, Trader Joes, etc), forget it. They won't hire you.

Really?

Check your facts. Unemployment among people with college educations is at it's highest point since 1983. With financial institutions and corporations shutting down, merging, a lot of people in the administrative and executive jobs are getting tossed out the door in favor of 'cost saving measures'.

Best Buy just 'cut the fat' at it's Minneapolis headquarters a few weeks ago. 300 jobs cut. There weren't any retail clerks or warehouse workers at their headquarters.

All were executive or administration positions.
