The new apps look pretty good, but the new pricing scheme is a shame.
I'm fairly excited about Pages and Bento on the thing. If I'm lucky enough to get there early, I'll be picking one up tomorrow.
Wouldn't keep you from your fun.

netflix primarily, but all of the abc, nbc, cbs streaming apps.
warpgate hd - looks bloody rad, let's see the reviews first tho
ibooks - i've already synced all my epub books to itunes and added the cover art. buy the time i get one i'll have 300 books to sync over. i'm gonna READ MY ASS OFF.

i do get what further's saying - moving to digital print media takes the physical object out of your hands, for good if we're not careful.
i tell myself that if i puchase an ibook and really really love it i'm going to make the effort to go buy the physical copy, but then i'm spending twice as much on the same book... the marvel app for comix seems pretty convenient when you want to read some comix, sure, but half of comix collecting is collecting the actual comix, lending them to friends, storing them in their little protective baggies, etc.
it was the same question with digital music downloads, if you purchase something from iTunes, where's the album art? where's the liner notes, and what do you stare at when you're listening to weedeater, high on acid? what, the computer screen? please, have you ever looked at an LCD display on acid? it looks totally fake.

I have no objection to ditching CD's and downloading music. Album art can always be scanned and jpeg'd (or preferably png'd), and given the sorry quality of most music these days, for the most part I could care less about that aspect of it. I would appreciate it however if more downloaded music was distributed in lossless formats such as FLAC.
Although if you want to stare at something on acid, try Milkdrop in Winamp, it'll make your normal hallucinations look like something on The Ed Sullivan Show.
As far as eBooks go, I just do not understand it. Real books are an infinitely better way to read. As far as I see it there are no advantages to things like the Kindle or the iPad, unless you really need the ability to carry 3,000 books with you wherever you go.
Weigh that small perk against the ability to read any time day or night in any lighting conditions with zero eye strain, no worries about dieing batteries, and a form factor that is much easier to hold than a huge plastic slab. Also, the resolution of printed media is much much higher than the iPad's paltry 1024x768. Whatever you are reading, it will always look better on paper.
Admittedly the Kindle tries to address the issues of batteries and lighting conditions, but it has ways to go until it approaches the quality and comfort factor of books.
