For people who claim to not go by the Old Testament, Christians sure do force the 10 Commandments, verses against homosexuality, and Book of Genesis down our throats a fuck-ton.

After seeing the pure batshit crazy of Mommy Bridgette, I hereby offer an unreserved apology for being condescending, smug, arrogant, which wasn't exactly my intention but what the hell. Lesson learned.
 
Belief is powerful and all encompassing. It effects everything since belief or lack of it is the framework for how we perceive..everything.

But it is an internal force. And if we do not take time to review our beliefs and try and understand why we are so "sure" of them when in the grand scheme of things (read: Universe, past, present and future) not one of us have the tools, knowledge or vantage point to really validate them beyond trusting ourselves and our feelings on the matter then we have to all conclude that any immovable belief system (even one that will endure if no counter evidence is presented) is the height of hubris.

This does not only affect the devout. It affects almost everybody in differing degrees whether religious or not. Atheists are often guilty of this in fact.

Whether you believe in pixies, Jesus or nothing you are still subscribing to something that you can never really be sure is the truth. And faith has no bearing on truth. AT ALL.

Just look at this thread. What other subject has long time MF'ers sniping at each other? A theory on Ben being the Smoke Monsters life partner or an argument about who should win Big Brother? No.

That's because our beliefs define us as people. Yub's post may seem insane to most of us but he is a Christian and believes totally. Why wouldn't he tell us all how it is? Well, maybe for the reasons I posted above but I understand why even if it was lacking much tact.

But seriously.. I will ban you all if we start posting scripture and debating it while e-throttling each other.

I will throttle when the throttle is called for. In no way shape or form do I think I have the answers to life's mysteries, but I refuse to be condescended to when most of us were just looking for some idea ping pong.

"mommy Bridgette" deserved what she got. You'd think "she'd" be aware of how easy it is to find quotes on the internet that disprove her.
