Why don't you just say "hang on for a sec" and then busy yourself elsewhere till you hear the beepy thing letting you know they've hung up?

After they've spent a shitload of money being on hold they'll stop bugging you. Or they'll find a way to sue you.

I've got moving companies calling me all the time because I asked for quotes from some of them. Thank the gods for caller id.
 
I had a wierd phone call to my house for about a week or so, every evening. I finally answered one night out of boredom. It was the wrong number! They were calling the wrong # for over a week! Fuck tards!
 
I used to get wrong number calls, then they'd be like "Well, maybe you can help me."

HOW THE HELL CAN I HELP YOU WHEN I'M NOT WHO YOU'RE LOOKING FOR?
 
Haha! Yeah, I've had that happen too.
Sometimes I've had doctors call, leaving a message to call back.
Dude, what if I wasn't so nice as to call the fucking doctors office back to say you called the wrong # and someone died because people are stupid?!
 
About a year ago I got text messages from some lady in America because she'd got this guy's number wrong on her contacts. Some were quite naughty.
