Jupiter's COCK

Wow, never imagined that would be the way Lucretia and Crixus got started! ALSO, I thought Lucretia was poisoning Big Batty, but then I thought, well I guess not, and then BAM.

GOODBYE GANNICUS

It was fun while it lasted. *sniff sniff*

Loved all the blood and violence. Turns me on.

Really good finale that makes me want to watch Blood and Sand again. I think I'd see all the characters in a different light, particularly Selonius, Nivea (sp?) and Doctore (which is easier to spell than Oen...emaius?). Pretty much everything was tied up very nicely.

I found the explanation of Ashur's injury by Crixus a little hard to swallow. Crixus is always going on about honour and stuff, so nearly cutting Ashur's leg off doesn't seem quite right, considering they haven't really had any quarrel. Then again, he did fuck up Dagan's eye, so maybe Crixus just sees it as karma.

The final death was suitably gory! I liked that even the bloodthirsty nobles were grossed out.

So a lot of people involved in Spartacus also worked on Xena and Hercules, but I never really watched them. Did they ever have storylines that were this addictive?

I liked the random Roman woman in the crowd who felt the need to flash the arena, LoL, she was so caught up in the fighting.

Hmmm...addictive storylines. Xena had more serious episodes, especially with the Deliverer and Sacrifice. The first 3 seasons of Xena are the best. The 5th season started out great, but they decided to work Lucy's pregnancy into it, which fucked it up. Season 6 had awesome episodes as well. The only ones in s4 to watch are the India episodes and The Ides of March.

Holy shit, how can I forget "One Against an Army." One of the best Xena eps, and very intense and emotional.

I think Gannicus will be in season 2 of Blood and Sand. I was bummed about Andy Whitfield being replaced, but if the writers can BRING IT, like they have in Gods of the Arena then I'm sure it will be worth watching.

Cast news for season 2 of Blood and Sand

http://www.tvsquad.com/2011/03/04/who-is-returning-next-season-spartacus/

As 'Spartacus' fans know, there was much bloodshed at the end of both the first season and the prequel season. But when season 2 begins, there will be a host of familiar faces for Spartacus to contend with as he leads his fellow slaves in a revolt against the Roman regime.

• As most fans know, the drama's title role has been recast. Liam McIntyre is taking over the lead role and Andy Whitfield is not returning due to his ongoing cancer battle.

• Lucretia (Lucy Lawless), who had a nasty stab wound at the end of 'Spartacus: Blood and Sand,' will nevertheless be back in season 2. "it was just a little poke in the tummy," Lucy Lawless told a recent press gathering. "Put a poultice on it, she'll be all right."

• Gannicus (Dustin Clare), a gladiator who got his freedom at the end of the prequel season, will return for the show's second season.

• Crixus (Manu Bennett), a House of Batiatus champion and, eventually, a friend to Spartacus, will return for season 2.

• Oenomaus/Doctore (Peter Mensah) will be back also. Let's face it, 'Spartacus' isn't 'Spartacus' without this magisterial man cracking his trusty whip.

• Ilythia (Viva Bianca) will return in Season 2, 'Spartacus' creator Steven S. DeKnight confirmed Friday on Twitter. I certainly don't expect this Roman noblewoman and Lucretia to be BFFs in future; as you'll recall, once Ilythia saw members of Batiatus' household beginning their murderous rampage, she ensured that Lucretia and her husband were locked inside the house with their angry slaves. I'm betting that makes for a tense reunion in future.

• Ashur (Nick E. Tarabay) will return for season 2, with lots of plots and schemes up his sleeve, no doubt.

• The character Naevia, a slave loved by Crixus, will return, but Lesley-Ann Brandt will no longer playing the role. Producers are recasting Naevia, who will return in season 2.

• Mira (Katrina Law), a slave who helped Spartacus in 'Blood and Sand,' will return in Season 2.

• Vettius (Gareth Williams), a ludus owner and an enemy of Batiatus in 'Gods of the Arena,' will not return in season 2.

• Legatus Glaber (Craig Parker), Ilythia's husband and the man responsible for Spartacus' enslavement, will be back in season 2. He'll be "hot on [the] heels" of the escaped slaves, according to a story by Matt Fowler of IGN.

Hmm. The proof will be in the eating, but I wonder how they'll pull off a show that's no longer set in a house/ludus, but has to move around a whole ancient city? And the recastings are a dealbreaker, but I'm sad to here Naevia's original actress won't be returning. It was nice to see her more in GotA and for the character to be built up. If she's played by some other actress then she may as well be some other character entirely really.

I have faith in the team behind it all, but it reminds me a little of Prison Break, which went to shit once it left the prison and they were all on the run from their former masters (well, y'know, prison guards).

You know, I'd be ok with that if the season hadn't just ended. GRRRR

Why do cable shows wait so long, then don't have that many episodes?
