Justice League

CaptainWacky

I want to smell dark matter

Now for the usual cycle of people saying "MAYBE THIS WILL BE GOOD" like they did after the Man of Steel and Batman V Superman trailers forgetting everything else Zack Snyder has ever done!

I liked Man of Steel :/

I was very wrong about Superman Returns though!

BvS was alright. Nowhere near the disaster it was painted as but "alright" isn't good enough from a Batman vs Superman film. They tried to cram too many story lines in to it. Suicide Squad was absolutely shit tier after hyping myself up for that one. That ones not Synder's fault though. That movie was so bad I didn't even finish it. It was put together like a badly edited rap video. Atrocious.

From the look of the Justice League trailer it looks....well, alright. The Synderisms are all there with the muted dark pallet and generic CGI aliens that I could do with less of but I don't mind Batfleck and I'm excited to see Jason Momoa as Aquaman.

Synder is not a bad filmmaker and is actually pretty damn good at putting epic shots together but he definitely has his flaws. I'm convinced he must be blackmailing someone at DC given all the projects he's attached to right now.

I'm deciding to stay quietly optimistic about JL because unlike previous times I've been burned I'm not going in to it expecting a defining classic because I know I'll be disappointed. The script HAS to be better than BvsS though. Right? I will be pissed if it's just another cram fest.

These films always seem to get bogged down by introducing the ensemble as well but we have already got WW, Supes and Bats out of the way which should make it less clunky in that regard at least.

Oh, I don't know.... it will probably not be great but it might be OK?

I still haven't watched BVS or Suicide Squad and at this point probbly never will. I feel like I already know enough about them that I don't have to actually watch them.

It's weird how they're trying to do Marvel style humour now after everyone complained about them being too humourless (that "I'm rich" line from Bruce is suspiciouly similar to Tony Stark's "genius, billionaire, playboy, philathropist" line in the Avengers trailer), but they're keeping the muted colours to make it look dark and serioues. So it's an odd combination.

To be fair, billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne came along a quarter-century before billioinaire playboy Tony Stark.

Tim Burton's movies made the most of it, humor-wise. The snark coming from Alfred & Lucius in the Nolan films was much drier.

OK, while the meme is...5-6 years ago, someone needs to do a "Hitler finds out..." on the DCU.

But the reason I started to reply to this is, did you know you're 100% correct on "Suicide Squad"? I mean, literally. They made the film. Then "Batman -vs- Superman -vs- Lex Luthor WITH Devastator (or whatever his name is) AND Wonder Woman, Darkseid, The Flash, and at least a hint of Aquaman: Dong of Justice" underperformed and "Suicide Squad" wasn't testing well at all--while people were really liking the trailer. SOOOO....

Warner/DC had the company that made the trailer re-edit the film at the last minute. The trailer company's recut outperformed the director's cut, so that's the film they released.

Who the hell is Cyborg?

I liked Justice League in the 70s, when it also had Supes, Hawkman, Green Arrow, Black Canary, and various others as needed.

Cyborg first showed up as a Teen Titans character in the 80's. When they needed a token black superhero for the final couple years of superfriends/super powers he was picked. (His super powers action figure being the rarest.)

He's been a titan for most of his existence. (even one of the main characters on teen titans and teen titans go cartoon)
When they did the DC comics new 52 reboot a few years back he was shoehorned into the Justice League for I assume was diversity's sake much like in the 80's with the cartoons. He's been heavily tied in with the JL every since. I would've preferred Jon Stewart myself.

Aquaman gets a bad rap! He's seems to have a surfer like persona based on the trailer, which is interesting. I like Cyborg, and all, but if he doesn't yell BOO-YAH! in the movie I'll be sorely disappointed.

This looks like it will be another turd from Warner/DC. I'm mystified by how they manage to consistently fuck up such iconic heroes. The trailers are getting more underwhelming and confusing the closer we get to release date. Said release date is, like, 5 days away and it's still under review blackout. Maybe this one sucks because it was mostly completed before they revamped their model, but I dunno. The only one that hasn't been terrible is Wonder Woman. And that's only because the other ones have been so terrible that it looked good by comparison. And Gal Gadot got a lot of screen time.

Oh, and that they had the director they had for 80% of the production and then stuck in a completely different style of director for post production is also not a good sign.
