Karma Kabal

anyone wants to fuck with me, they know that it isn't karma that's my weapon of choice.

So far this "solution" is more retarded than the problem was. The fact that not everyone's karma was reset is a major problem, and will enable people to feel justified in starting wars.

I'm sorry that karma annoys you mm, but you can deal with this without pissing off half the membership and exacerbating the problem. If you want to stop karma wars, take away the things that give people incentive to start karmabombings and wars: stop making it a status symbol, and stop using it as a source of punishment. You turned negging into a weapon by denying negged users access to board features. You also make it a weapon by giving admins an automatic +/-500 karma power.

If users piss you off, DC them. But don't entirely blame the users for screwing up karma when you make it so tempting. Comments are not the problem, and removing them does nothing to improve the TK experience.

You know.... you are so right, I will turn karma off until every one of the 5000 members has been reset. thank you so much for pointing this out to me.

There is no feature that will automatically reset karma. It has to be done manually, one member at a time. I started with the active members who had highest post counts for 3 pages, then I went to everyone who had been online in the past 24 hours, then I got the obvious duals and everyone was yelling for my head, so I switched Karma back on while I continued to comb through the membership list looking for the ones most likely to jump in and abuse something.

Since karma was turned back on, there are no special user groups for super karma, they follow the same rules as everyone else. Except me because my profile cant be edited, but my karma hits are 6 I think, not 500. IN the meantime, I'm still going through the list and I'm tinkering with karma to try to make it so it can't be abused and to turn the focus on the comments instead of the points AND I'm resetting the arcade and changing those permissions to try to make it fair.

You tell me, what should karma setting be to make it fair?

You're getting more pissy & more whiney than those you're accusing of being the same, mm.

Turn if off, and leave it off, until it is sorted out, and you'll save yourself a headache for getting oversensitive whenever somebody so much as mentions karma.

I told you earlier it was becoming the fucking focus of this board. When the owner starts getting hissy over it, then is it really worth maintaining it?

And with the new settings I can't predict whats going to happen until I see it in action. Now you tell me, which would YOU rather have the focus of the board... karma or jack and his groupies?

Neither, because neither should be the focus of the board. You're saying it as if one has to be.

I know you can't predict whats going to happen, so stop acting like a sourpuss to anyone who trys to point out faults or give advice. Like hell did Eggs deserve any flak for trying to give friendly advice. If you need to spill bile, that's why jack and I are here remember - to get blamed for everything.

How do you figure I was giving eggsy any flak? He was right, there were still too many members with high karma and I dont remember whos duals were who from the DLA days, so better safe than sorry.

I was explaining to him WHY there were still so many not reset and answered his accusation that Admins and others could give 500 karma hits. And I asked his advice on how to make the settings fair. Where do you see I was giving him any flak?
