Listkeeper a liar?

He wasn't banned at all as far as I know.

Because exactly how much he did is unknown, he just won't ever be trusted with a return engagement to staff.

Faisent was removed from the staff before it was revealed what he did, on his own advice. Faisent offered his PMs to be read after his removal.

Heh. Post #21, combined with Nick's offer of a General Pardon to anyone who would kneel and kiss his ring makes me that much happier that Chris headed off having you to in charge of the board. :cylon:

WTF!? Can someone fix this?

Never mind. My computer is possessed. For some reason it had post #22 about eight times in a row. I thought I'd had some freaky double-post bug on steroids until I noticed they all had the same post #

I like Faisent. What leak did he make that caused problems for Elwood more than Bear's prodding of a bad situation or some mods turning a blind eye to Storm's tinkering?

:mystery:

Faisent betrayed The Elwood. Apparently at Wordforge, that is a far, far worse crime than threatening to ruin someone's life. :cylon:

That can't be. Not Elwood. He's a pillar of the community, a good ole boy who stands by his principles. He would never stoop so low as to use his position to oust naysayers he finds troublesome.

You must have the wrong guy, I tell ya.

You know what pisses me off?

I've known Faisent for nearly 15 years. I turned him onto Big Blue.

And he leaks shit, but it isn't to me?

Typical.

:D

I imagine Faisient leaked unflattering information about the WF staff's action to a member of WF through PM. In other words, the observer blew the whistle on some bullshit that was going on in A51 and because of that has been cast out forever.

Ohhh, that's actually kinda pretty, the way you say it.

Anyway - the current climate of distrust is rather amusing, by now.

And, I'll just reiterate what I've said about Listy: cut him some slack, he's got good reason for being annoyed. :(

Two points:

If it wasn't so sad, it would be hilarious--they set up the Observers as a check, to show us that we had nothing to worry about. But as soon as an Observer does his job and points out trouble, he gets canned.

Other point? I'll bet you Listkeeper didn't get fired for surfing Wordforge at work. He got fired for being a huge tool. Surfing Wordforge was just the excuse they used to fire him.

Is this true? Is this what happened to faisent? The question bears repeating:

What exactly *did* faisent leak? Was it manufactured lies? Or was it the type of information he was sanctioned to report anyway, but ultimately proved embarrassing for staff/admins?

People are only fired for such things if the job wants to get rid of them in the first place.

To be fair, that is not true all the time.

Despite my quality evaluations, if I was caught surfing a site that contained questionable material, I would be immediately fired. And if it was bad enough, I could be sent to jail.

^Some think that should happen to you irregardless.

But in all fairness, yeah I think the whole firing an observor for doing his job needs to be addressed...otherwise what's the point of them? So Elwood can "appear" fair and in touch with the board? If so, it's just a facade - a poor attempt to pull the wool over the membership's eyes.

I'm not sure what the point of observers *are* if they:

1) are in complete lockstep with every mod decision
2) Aren't allowed to talk about it with the rest of the board.

Granted, I respect that there are probably some things that we don't all need to be completely privy about, but the system as is is just another smoke-and-mirror show.

One such improvement could be to rotate the observers after a certain amount of time and rotate it in any active posters in good standing (Ie two or less full warnings seems fair).

IMO, Demiurge would make a GREAT moderator. He is not part of the Old Guard, has proven he can look beyond all the surface BS into the heart of the matter, and has a great track record with TNZ.

Alas, it will never come to pass.

There ARE cases like this. For instance, if you work at a Fred Meyer Supermarket and you pick one grape off the produce section and eat it, I'm told you will be fired on the spot. But that is made abundantly clear in the hiring process.

And as Shooter has pointed out (somewhere), Wordforge has some merit--he's gotten story ideas there, and I've gotten technical and professional advice there--to say nothing of polishing my writing and debating skills.

So in most cases, I think if the management didn't approve of Wordforge, you'd get an informal verbal warning, and have to rebuild some trust with your boss. But if you're already combative, arrogant, and difficult--as we know Listkeeper is eminently capable of being, and as he has essentially admitted to in the thread where he claimed superiority to the "idiot IT person", you gotta know they're going to be looking for any excuse to can you--and, were I a betting man, I'd say that is the way it went down.
