Well she did plan to trade the baby for Alex but the others werent' there, just the black smoke thing and Charlie yelled at her for kidnapping the baby (RICH COMING FROM HIM) and all that but maybe she just did that to FOOL THE VIEWERS.

No, the others lit it as a distraction. Danielle was expecting to find them there, that's why she ran towards the smoke to give them the baby. She apparently heard them say they were coming for "the boy" and thought they meant the baby, but they really meant Walt. How she managed to here that...

Other interesting things:
Ben told the two he sent to the different sections of the plane wreck to "make a list" and that he wanted it in 3 days. Anna Lucia said, "They came the first night and took 9 of us." Later, the guy that infiltrated Anna Lucia's group said the list was of the good ones.
A point was made to show us that both Kate and Jack had a bandage on their arms - blood drawn or given a shot. Nothing about Sawyer having a bandage.
Kate and Jack were given decent food and drink. Jack was told the drugs they gave him would cause serious side effects if he didn't eat.
Sawyer had to work to get bear food, then he gave his fish biscuit to Kate.
Serious tension between Ben and Juliet. Jack realizes he is in an aquarium and the part he is in is for sharks. Juliet says, "dolphins too." Ben has freaky eyes and Juliet is all soft and her teeth hardly ever show. Juliet says, "It doesn't matter who we were but who we are."
Island of Dr. Mureau. "Are we not men?"
