Luther

Anyone else watch this show? I missed the first 3 seasons (I think there have been 3) but it's a crime show, so I figured it wouldn't be hard to get into. It's pretty good! I had a hard time understanding what they were saying at first because they don't have posh accents. Luther puts the k sound on the end of some words that don't end in k!

I started watching it from the beginning a few days ago. I've only seen the first two so far, but I agree it's pretty good. Not the most realistic crime show, especially by British standards, but I think that makes it a lot better. Most of ours are depressingly realistic and dull IMO (no, I haven't seen Prime Suspect, Eggs. :P)

Oh and Idris Elba's always really watchable.

I didn't expect this show to be so suspenseful! I have to watch through my fingers sometimes, srsly.

The only complaint I have (and it's not really a complaint so don't kill me), but I ain't gonna lie...I have a hard time understanding what they're saying sometimes. I don't know if it's because of the volume on the BBC or the accents are so thick for a few of them.

Likely a combination of both.

I was having trouble with the accents too, but only some of the characters. They are accents that we're not used to hearing on TV, I think... LIKE people need subtitles to understand Honey Boo Boo (BUT I DON'T, lol).

ALRIGHT, so season 3 is over already (wtf only 4 episodes per season?) and I did really enjoy it... BUT wtf? Internal Affairs just gets to arrest a police officer for anything? Are unarmed police officers expected to arrest a rampaging vigilante with a sawed off shotgun? How can internal affairs not only hold Luther responsible for his escape, but also for the murders he commits? None of that made any sense. AND ALSO that Alice chick shows up out of the blue and saves the day?

If you get the chance watch it from the beginning. I've seen the first three episodes so far and I imagine it helps a lot to explain stuff with Luthor's wife and Alice, who I guess must be the crazy woman? It always takes me forever to learn tv characters names...

I can see why you guys would find the accents tricky in places. Because it's set in London the characters are from all over the country, so quite a number of regional accents are represented. Even Luthor doesn't pronounce his own name 'properly'. :)

I'm telling you, that last episode with her, the entire time I'm thinking to myself "If only I were as intelligent as her...Oh, I could rule the world". :)

Is it all as ultra violent as the five minutes I watched where a guy was squirt gunning people with acid then jumped up and down on someone's skuill?

No, that was a one-off (and incidentally it was the episode I referred to).

Most of it's just Luther ambling around like a big tweed teddy bear protecting the weak and forcing justice on the bad.

HI, I just watched the first episode on Netflix and it was pretty good. I mean I've seen so many parody type things (Touch Of Cloth) that it's hard to take the super gritty police stuff seriously, but the acting was good and it was well shot. But Netflix only has the first two series and the episodes are 52 minutes and surely they lasted an hour on the BBC?

And Ruth Wilson is fucking hot?

SHE IS. I only saw that last season of Luther. It was good. (I don't know about the length of the episodes)
