I finally watched She-Hulk. I was ready to defend the show from the first 6 episodes, but then in the finale it all came down in a crumbling winking clusterfuck.
I was ready to accept the show on its own terms for most of the way. Good cast, witty scripts, and plenty of funny shit for Wong to do.
But then, the ending...
Did the writers just give up? They had a good show, with its own storytelling tone, that broke the fourth wall in a specific, limited way that was bearable. Marvel is a universe, and there's room for all kinds of stories and styles to tell them with...
But WTF was that ending? DId they hand in a better script that Kevin rejected, so they wrote this other ending as a joke, only Kevin said, "HA HA that's great, use it!" (Y'all can tell me, I'm not going on a big search for interviews.)
There was a lot of good stuff here. Why did they just decide to crumple it up into a ball and toss it in the finale? Ugh.
