Merlin series 3

People spend an inordinate amount of time lurking around corners in this show.
 
And Merlin always knocks a bad guy unconscious by making a tree branch/chandelier fall on him, which is always followed by Arthur saying "don't just stand there, fuckface, do something!".
 
Yes yes yes. Good episode. VERY good episode. Like, an actualy good episode of television and not just "A good episode of Merlin." It had characters and drama and everything.


Shame about next week's.
 
It was really good, but the only thing that let it down for me were those gay bits. There wasn't a single non-gay Merlin/Arthur scene the whole way through. It's getting annoying.

The highlight for me was the Ray Harryhausen style skeleton attackers. Probably a bit too prominent to describe as merely an "homage", but nicely done.

I liked the look of next week's preview up until the farting. It's nice to see Gaius get an episode, but why does it have to be written by RTD (surely there isn't more than one person in the world who still thinks fart noises in teatime dramas is funny)?
 
Yes it was a good episode. Morgana showed quite a range of evil looks this week. And looked hot. She ALMOST showed depth a couple of times too by kind of pausing for a moment and thinking about what she was doing. Kind of. I mean, it's Merlin, that's about as much depth as you get.

Loved Uther waking up and running out to join the fight. And the skeletons. And Merlin was all "I HAVE SOMETHING FOR BREAKFAST FOR YOU..." and he totally meant his cock.

Next week's does look like the troll episode again, but at least it'll have lots of Richard Wilson and he's a QUITE GOOD comedic actor, YOU KNOW. And it won't be a two-parter (I hope.)

I just watched an episode. Merlin used magic and it backfired hilariously!
 
Mmm, watching Merlin can sometimes be like watching Smallville, with regards to the clichés, but that's no surprise since the producers cite Smallville as their main influence.

I think it's getting better, though.
 
The new formula seems to be "Morgana does something evil without anyone seeing but Merlin stops her with magic without her seeing." Realistically Merlin or Morgana should just knife the other to death in bed at night.
 
I really should watch more Merlin. I think I'll pick up the first two series on DVD, and start there.
 
Well...maybe just illegally download it. It's probably not worth spending actual money on.
 
Yeah, don't waste your money on it, just download a few episodes. We could tell you which are worth watching. The show really is very formulaic, so you'd probably get quite frustrated watching them in quick succession. And remember it's a teatime kids show, so it's not very sophisticated even at the best of times.

I think I watched the first 3 of Series 1, and I've seen about 6 or 7 episodes partially, so I get the idea of the formula. I just want to join in with your schtick and in-jokes!

I know next to nothing about illegally downloading, because I hardly ever bother to do it. I'm a goody two-shoes, but I'll consider whoring my way to some free TV over the weekend.

Hey, I buy all sorts of shit. You're talking to a man who owns every episode of Lois & Clark on official DVD. If I buy shit like that, Merlin is made to look positively Scorcese beside it.

If someone posted a list of every Merlin episode I could say which episodes are worth watching...except I probably wouldn't be able to remember most of them now.
