Merlin series 3

Yeah, why didn't Arthur think "hey, I suddenly feel a lot better now that that thing Morgana gave me has mysteriously disappeared!"

I wonder if they film all the "Morgana looks out of a window, expressionless" shots for the season in one go.

SHE'S A GREAT ACTRESS. LOOK AT HER BREASTS.

Hey, I wasn't complaining! It just occurred to me that they're all shot from precisely the same angle.

So tonight's was total Merlin formula right down to Merlin figuring out that the person was evil and telling someone who doesn't believe him. Except this time he was telling GAIUS and it just didn't ring true at all that Gaius wouldn't believe him after everything that's happened over the last three years.

AND NO MORGANA!? And why do we get "And John Hurt as the voice of the Dragon" everything fucking week when he hasn't been in it since like episode four?

On the plus side Richard Wilson is always good and it was cool seeing Gaius use magic and the Merlin/Arthur bits were good as always.

Next week's looks good.

I quite liked the episode, formulaicness aside. All the stuff with Gaius and Merlin was really good and even Arthur's physical abuse was actually well written for a change. The monster was fairly well done as well, even if there was no motivation explained for why he wanted Uther out of the way. And come to think of it, I'm not sure why the Manticore was so feared considering it was pretty much tethered to a box and when attacking Merlin, was less dangerous than the average household cat.

Next week's looks good, but what are the chances that at the end of the episode Uther's quite satisfied that Arthur and Gwen had simply been under a spell and not responsible for their actions?

Whare are the chances Uther will say "You and Gwen? BUT SHE'S BLACK!"?

He got pretty close! "Someone like HER?!"

Was a good episode. I liked that it kind of turned the tables on the usual formula, with an invented villain, and even an invented bit of sorcery.

Good old Col' was great as DRAGOON THE GREEN or whatever he called himself.

By the end everything was back to how it was at the beginning of the episode, as usual, but we've come to expect that. :phpneutral: Gwen realising that Morgana would even let her burn at the stake was a slight change, I suppose. But quite predictably, Uther was satisfied at the end of the ep that Arthur and Gwen weren't responsible for their actions.

Gwen should said "I saw her smile... EVILLY!" Oh wells :(

Next week looks like it's back to that variation on the jousting (OMG THAT STRANGER'S USING MAGICS?!) that they do once a season. It's the curse of the even-numbered Merlin episode.

Seriously, Colin Morgan had so much fun playing old he should've just stayed that way for the whole series.

Yeah, Old Merlin was good. The bit where he was talking about Arthur mistreating his servants actually made me laugh. AND I NEVER LAUGH.

Morgana is hot but she has to be carefuly with the evil smiling!

TOTAL RESET BUTTON LOL.

Didn't they already do next week's episode once this season?

Yes Camelot seems to have a tournament every two weeks or so and people keep trying to kill Arthur in them.

And someone on the internet will try to ship Merlin with this new angry magic kid.

So tonight's was totally skippable. It wasn't bad and I liked seeing Uther fight a bit and I'm sure there were a few funny Merlin/Arthur moments and Moragana looked really hot and the Dragon made a pointless appearance and no Gwen...but still. The magic boy's acting was too, umm, shit. AT LEAST EVIL KING IS BACK NEXT WEEK.

Is that the HOLY GRAIL next episode or just some generic "cup of life"?

It'd better be the fucking holy grail.

I doubt they'd call it that or mention JESUS in any way.

GOOD MERLINSODE.

I liked how the noble lady Morgana was willing to give Gwen a second chance and let her live as long as Gwen joined the winning team. See, she still has depth, kind of! Of course Gwen will betray her and have to die, but that's her choice.

It was pretty blatant how they couldn't afford to show any battle scenes this time so we just skipped the whole thing and found Camelot overthrown. But with no immortal guards anywhere.

Maybe at the end of next week's Morgana will just say "oh, I was under a spell!" and Uther will believe her again and RESET BUTTON.

Next week! Round Table! Excalibur! The Dragon doing something other than stock animation!

THEY BETTER NOT delay series 4 until 2012 because of the Doctor Who series split...

The Coming of Arthur - Part 1

Honestly...

So, things are moving at long last. Everyone knows Morgana's evil, and Gwen's the inside man, but will Uther just think Morgana had been under a spell when it's all over and forgive her? Or, almost more annoying, will the writers actually say that she was under a spell and never really evil?

It's frustrating that Merlin doesn't just go nuts with his powers and mow down the bad guys (especially ones who are conveniently waiting at the bottom of hills incase Holy Cups happen to roll down into their hands). Everyone's about to die, this is the time to start throwing people around and letting his friends know that he can be useful too.

Gwaine does have a big nose.

Morgana staring out of a window blankly take #47.

I'm guessing the dragon kills all the immortal bad guys.

I'd be willing to accept "Morgana was under a spell" to explain the inconsistencies with her characters, really. But then at the end she gives an EVIL LOOK anyway SO WAS SHE REALLY UNDER A SPELL!?

Well, she'd still be under a spell until it was lifted. But it'd be annoying because it'd mean EVERYTHING went back to normal again at the end of the season.

She could be half under a spell/half evil.
