Merlin

I read in the Radio Times that they have a five year plan for the show, but considering how many times they've used that "oh no someone's ill and it can only be the work of sorcery!" storyline (which Uther always responds to with a strange incredulity), I wonder how they'll manage it.

I still like it though. It doesn't require much concentration, which can be nice after watching shows with plotlines I can only just about comprehend, such as Silent Witness, or Heroes/Lost.

Seriously, it really does seem we're getting

Gaius: MY LORD [CHARACTER] IS ILL. I CANNOT CURE THEM.

Uther: Impossible! There is no magic any more! Seriously!

Gaius: ooops actually it's magic but it got stopped somehow I'M SURE IT WASN'T MERLIN NOPE SIREE.

Dragon: Hello I'm John Hurt please give me a pay check.

For a kingdom that's apparently banished magic, it does seem to pop up again every single week.

It's kind of like Gordon Brown saying he doesn't trust Oxygen, and wants it banished. He is told that is has been banished, and remains utterly myopic to the fact that it is all around him.

It is exactly like that in every way right down to the smallest detail.

Also why do all the magic words sound Welsh?

Aren't all the Welsh magical elfin creatures who live in the ground?

It's all based on old English words, says the creator. They even bothered to have it translated properly for some reason.

I saw them talking to the producers and the girl who plays Gwen about the historical innaccuracies on Points Of View today...it sound like she was saying "stop going on about me being black" without actually saying it, but that was probably just me.

I saw that as well and wondered if she even knew about the complaints. I really don't see what the big deal is. It's a myth for fuck's sake. If you're gonna complain about something, complain about the writing or the acting or something, not that the drama with the dragon and the sorcerer shouldn't have a black woman making a sandwich in it.

It's not like they cast an ugly girl or anything, that would have been unforgivable. Also, I can't believe no one thought of putting meat between two slices of bread before the 19th century.

It makes you wonder what they used loaves for.

They probabaly humped them, or summat.

Seriously! Maybe they put slices of bread between two pieces of meat.

According to Wikipedia, the early beginnings of the Sandwich was Jewish. We even took that away from them!

Yeah, they taunted Jesus with sandwiches on the Cross.

Probably had Pickle in it.

DON'T START THAT "NET FEUD" OVER AGAIN!

OMG THEY THREW TOMATOES AT MERLIN EVEN THOUGH THEY WEREN'T INVENTED THEN!

The part where Merlin totally disitengerating the bad guys was a bit unexpected, but I suppose they weren't really "human" so it was okay?

the girl Arthur was in "love" with looked about 10. It was distracting.

Is Morgana having "the sight" a new thing or has it been mentioned before?

Asshole Dragon finally returns next week!

I was surprised by the disintegrating too, quite graphic for a kids show.

Merlin really should've grown some balls and told Arthur he wasn't going to keep covering for him. What if the King had run out of patience and used Merlin as target practice while Arthur was off with his floozy in the forest?

They haven't specifically said Morgana could see the future, but we knew she had some kind of powers and that she was having dreams.

Now is it just me or does that big castle only seem to have two corridors and one staircase? They walk through the same bits.

The designer was lazy as he made all the corridors and staircases look the same.
