Man who filmed infant sex abuse sentenced to 205-775 years in prison
The judge said Richard Smith II was one of the most evil people she'd ever encountered.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A West Virginia woman convicted of filming an infant being sexually abused will likely spend life in prison.
Kanawha Circuit Judge Tera Salango sentenced 41-year-old Richard Smith II on Wednesday to serve between 205 and 775 years behind bars.
Smith was convicted last month of sexual abuse, sexual assault and sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, custodian or person in position of trust.

The Charleston Gazette-Mail reports Judge Salango told Smith she was one of the most evil people she'd ever encountered when she handed down the sentence. Smith declined to speak during the hearing.

William Byron wins virtual Bristol; Bubba Wallace 'rage quits'

William Byron led the most laps in NASCAR's first two virtual races but had nothing to show for his gaming skills. The third time out, he got the win. Byron easily won the iRacing event Sunday at virtual Bristol Motor Speedway, where NASCAR would have been racing had the coronavirus pandemic not caused sports to shut down. "Some things are different, but a lot of things are similar, and this is a racetrack I've always enjoyed coming to," Byron said. "It's fun to have some pressure on iRacing. I usually just run it to have some fun and get better." NASCAR changed the format this week and started with single-car qualifying to set the field for a pair of 50-lap heat races. Those heat races determined the starting order. Byron started from the pole and was never challenged. The entertainment came from the drivers, most of whom streamed their gaming experiences for fans to eavesdrop on the action and the arguing. Clint Bowyer was the in-race reporter and again delivered a hilarious performance.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. headlines NASCAR Hall of Fame nominees

Dale Earnhardt Jr, Jeff Burton and Carl Edwards were among the new nominees for NASCAR's next Hall of Fame class, announced Tuesday under a revamped voting protocol. For 11 years, voters elected five members per class from a list of 25 candidates; it was trimmed to 20 beginning with the 2015 class. Burton, Earnhardt, Edwards, Jake Elder and Banjo Matthews are all first-time nominees for the Hall of Fame. Burton and Earnhardt both moved to the NBC Sports broadcasting booth after successful careers with big race wins but never the elusive Cup Series championship. NASCAR had no announcement on when Hall of Fame voting will be conducted.

NASCAR star Kyle Larson fired for using racial slur in virtual race
"After much consideration, Chip Ganassi Racing has determined that it will end its relationship with driver Kyle Larson," Ganassi said. "As we said before, the comments that Kyle made were both offensive and unacceptable especially given the values of our organization.

Larson, in his seventh full season racing at NASCAR's top Cup level, was in the final year of his contract with Ganassi Racing. He was at the top of the list of a crowded free-agent field when the circuit was suspended four races into the season because of the coronavirus pandemic.

When NASCAR suspended racing four events into the season, it listed the event in Virginia as its return date. But Virginia is under a stay-at-home order until June 10.

Texas, Florida govs eager to help NASCAR start on road to return from coronavirus
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott tweeted Monday that NASCAR was working with Texas Motor Speedway on a plan to race there. Florida Gov.
