Hawks wingman Vince Carter became the 22nd player in NBA history to score 25,000 points in Atlanta's 124-108 loss to the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday.

Carter, an eight-time All-Star playing in his 21st season and 1,423rd career NBA game, notched the milestone bucket in the final second of the game. Against the team for whom he played his first six NBA seasons, Carter slammed home a pass from rookie Kevin Huerter off an offensive rebound.

Gregg Popovich: Kawhi Leonard great player, but not leader for us

Before Saturday night's game at Milwaukee, San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich was asked about the importance of point guard Patty Mills' leadership in the wake of Manu Ginobili's retirement and Kawhi Leonard's trade to Toronto, and he provided a blunt assessment of the latter.

"Kawhi was a great player, but he wasn't a leader or anything," Popovich told reporters of Leonard, the 2014 NBA Finals MVP and two-time Defensive Player of the Year. "Manu and Patty were the leaders. Kawhi's talent will always be missed, but that leadership wasn't his deal at that time. That may come as he progresses, but Manu and Patty filled that role last year, and LaMarcus [Aldridge] came a long way in that regard also."

Leonard is expected to return to San Antonio on Jan. 3, when the Raptors face the Spurs at the AT&T Center.
 
LeBron James hit another career milestone, passing Wilt Chamberlain for fifth on the NBA's all-time scoring list. James reached 31,425 career points.

The Indiana Pacers are hiring longtime WNBA executive Kelly Krauscopf as the first female assistant general manager in NBA history.

Krauscopf has been president and general manager of the WNBA's Indiana Fever for 17 years.
 
Former LA Lakers star Kobe Bryant announced Tuesday night that he and his wife, Vanessa, are expecting their fourth child-- a baby girl.

The couple already has three daughters: Natalia, Gianna and Bianka. Bryant, 40, retired from the NBA in 2016 after a 20-year carrer.

The Minnesota Timberwolves fired president and coach Tom Thibodeau on Sunday, clearing the way for ownership to revamp the team's basketball operations.

Thibodeau ends his tenure with the Timberwolves with a 97-109 record and their first playoff in 14 years in 2017-18.
 
Chandler Parsons, Memphis Grizzlies agree to part ways.

Parsons will leave the Grizzlies and his agent James Dunleavy work to structure a resolution.

Parsons, 30, is owed $38 million on his original four-year, $94 million maximum contract, including $25 million for the 2019-20 season
