New Doctor Who

Don't worry, I'm sure next week's Radio Times front cover will manage to spoil the entire plot of the finale.

I'm glad Billie's speech got fixed. Maybe she had a mouth ulcer last week?

Really wish we could've seen more of the attack, maybe they'll show more next week.

Were the Daleks the ones who moved Earth? Someone said they put some sort of shield around the planet to keep the air in. If they want to kill everyone, then why do that? Or do they just prefer being in control of everyone, rather than killing them?

The Hybridness of Caan really annoyed me.

Luke can't do reaction shots.

Ianto looked a bit porky.

Aren't they using the 27 planets to make some kind of DEATH ENGINE or something? The Doctor mentioned someone trying to move the Earth before which I assume was a continuity reference to Davros trying it and I'm sure TOMTREK will tell us since I can't find a good wiki-style Doctor Who website.

They never simply "kill all the humans" they just kill a few to let the viewers know they're evil and shoot some random skyscrapers in New York but do no lasting damage. It's how villains work!

The whole 27 planets thing I guess is to make The Crucible work.

Of course, I don't know what the fuck "The Crucible" is.

I guess it'll be explained next week along with Mickey and Rose's mum and SEXBOT48 somehow making appearances.

When was the Shadow Proclamation first metioned? I can hear Ecclestone saying it.

Reminds me of that thing in Andromeda when the bad guys had all those planets around a star with big connecting struts between them.

The first episode of the new series, Rose. Eccleston says it to the Nestene Consciousness.

The doctor said when he made the hologram of the 27 planets that they rearanged themselves into a patern on their own, so it could be they serve some purpose.

I thought at first that they might be trying to bring skaro back, which the doctor could change so they end up bringing gallefry back instead, but it looks like Davros is trying to end all of existance, which seems a little stupid, since he would end too, but at least explains all the stars going out.

Davros has always been about having the power to destory everything with one fell swoop, that's what the whole virus speech in Genesis of the Daleks was about.

The Doctor: Davros, if you had created a virus in your laboratory, something contagious and infectious that killed on contact, a virus that would destroy all other forms of life; would you allow its use?
Davros: It is an interesting conjecture.
The Doctor: Would you do it?
Davros: The only living thing... The microscopic organism... reigning supreme... A fascinating idea.
The Doctor: But would you do it?
Davros: Yes; yes. To hold in my hand, a capsule that contained such power. To know that life and death on such a scale was my choice. To know that the tiny pressure on my thumb, enough to break the glass, would end everything. Yes! I would do it! That power would set me up above the gods! And through the Daleks I shall have that power!

What a load of fanwanky technobabble ridden crap.

I knew you'd say that. ;)

The way they defeated the Daleks was a bit anti-climatic and similar to the season one finale, only with Donna being part Time Lord here rather than Rose beig...whatever she was then. Davros didn't really do much but rant (but wasn't he like that originally anyway?) K-9 made me smile, fanwanky or not.

I thought the goodbyes were well done (even if it was nearly Lord of the Rings length) and Bernard Cribbins nearly brought a tear to my eye with his dignified performance.

Not ending with "what, what, WHAT?" was good for a change too.

EVERY SINGLE major plot point was resolved with technobabble. THE ENTIRE STORY is solved by Donna saying some long words and flicking a few switches. Even B&B would sy that's a fucking bad use of technobabble.

There were entire plot lines that did nothing, the Oscar-Whatsist key, Sarah Jane suddenly pulling a magic necklace from nowhere and then DOING NOTHING WITH IT. Jackie Tyler's entire actions in the episode were: Shoot a gun. Stand around. Go home. K9 pops up so he can say some technobabble to Mr. Smith so they can "tow the Earth" somehow.

It didn't need to be an extended episode, it just seriously seriously needed an editor.

And the less said about RTD making another Doctor just so he can go and fuck Rose the better.

Okay, but the German daleks were cool.

I wonder how many people died in earthquakes when the TARDIS to was towing the Earth home?

I'm also pretty sure RTD has no idea what "death" is.

RUSSELL THIS IS WHAT DEATH IS:

"death /dɛθ/ - [deth] –noun
1. the act of dying; the end of life; the total and permanent cessation of all the vital functions of an organism
"

THIS IS WHAT DEATH IS NOT:

1) Going to another dimension.
2) Losing a part of your memory.

Stop saying people will die WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE THE BALLS TO KILL THEM.

i was so looking forward to Rose coming back
but playing a whore seems to have made Billie into an even poorer actress
which is sad
though not surprising...

No, getting a teeth transplant from Ken Dodd is what did that.

I loved teh episode, I wont go into details because I am getting to teh stage where I am too drunk to type.

but FUCKIN A!!!

Freema was looking fucking hot and her acting seemed better than earlier in the season (and Torchwood), though she didn't do much so who knows. I also noticed that at no time did we see Billie and Freema on screen at the same time...probably because Billie would look like a big pile of mashed potato in comparison.

seriously, what has happened to Billie?
i use to think she was real hot, but yeah, Freema is defo way hotter now...

In 2012, when Henry Van Statten finds the Dalek after it has been ejected from The Time War, and thought "I have no idea what this is, I'll call it a 'Metaltron'.", did he somehow forget when they were all over Earth and dragged it to the other side of the universe?

Or would that just be a writer ignoring continuity set up only three years earlier?

No, no it couldn't be.

Timey wimey?
