NFL takes over investigation into sexual harassment allegations within Washington Football Team
The NFL is now overseeing the investigation by Beth Wilkinson into the Washington Football Team over alleged sexual harassment issues in the organization. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell informed Washington owner Dan Snyder of the change Monday night. In a statement, Snyder indicated that it was his suggestion for the NFL to take over the investigation."Recently, The Washington Football Team launched an independent third-party investigation into allegations about our culture and incidents of harassment. In conversations with Commissioner Goodell, Tanya and I suggested that the NFL assume full oversight of the investigation so that the results are thorough, complete and trusted by the fans, the players, our employees and the public," Snyder said. "I appreciate Commissioner Goodell agreeing to our suggestion and the entire Washington Football Team remains committed to fully cooperating with all aspects of the investigation."

Detroit Lions, lineman Taylor Decker reach six-year, $85M extension, agents say
The Detroit Lions have agreed to terms with left tackle Taylor Decker on a six-year, $85 million contract extension, with $37.5 million fully guaranteed. He was the 16th overall pick in the 2016 draft, the team's first selection with general manager Bob Quinn. Decker started working with the first team during his first week with the Lions and has protected the blind side of Matthew Stafford ever since. A product of Ohio State, Decker said in August that he had initial conversations with the Lions about a potential extension, but he didn't know what to expect, in part due to the coronavirus pandemic. Decker was playing this season on his fifth-year option, which had been picked up by the club in 2019.
Final 53-man roster projections for all 32 NFL teams
The 2020 NFL season kicks off Thursday, Sept. 10, when the Kansas City Chiefs play host to the Houston Texans. It has been an irregular offseason to say the least with OTAs and minicamps canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic. While teams have been in training camp since late July, they have had only 14 padded practices and no preseason games. Despite having less information than in previous seasons, teams still have to make roster decisions and cut to 53 players by 4 p.m. ET on Saturday.

Patriots cut rookie kicker Justin Rohrwasser and Nick Folk
The New England Patriots have waived rookie kicker Justin Rohrwasser, whose controversial tattoos generated attention after the team selected him in the fifth round of the NFL Draft (No. 159 overall). Rohrwasser, who kicked at the University of Rhode Island and then Marshall, was competing with veteran Nick Folk in camp. The Patriots signed Folk a week into training camp, which was the first indication that Rohrwasser was on shaky ground.
Adrian Peterson signing one-year contract with Lions
Adrian Peterson is signing with the Detriot Lions, the running back told NFL reporter Josina Anderson on Sunday. Peterson is signing a one-year, $1.05 million contract that includes incentives, a league source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. The move reunites Peterson with his former offensive coordinator with the Minnesota Vikings, Darrell Bevell, and adds to an already crowded Lions backfield that includes Kerryon Johnson, last year's starter, and 2020 second-round pick D'Andre Swift. Peterson has played in 164 games with 3,036 carries for 14,216 yards and 111 touchdowns. An All-Pro and a three-time Pro Bowl selection, Ramsey becomes a long-term fixture on a defense that includes two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald, who signed a six-year, $135 million extension before the 2018 season. In 60 career games, Ramsey has intercepted 10 passes, returning one for a touchdown, and has 49 pass deflections and three forced fumbles.
Will the 2020 NFL season see the death of home-field advantage?
The sports betting community is set to handicap an NFL season that will look -- and sound -- different than anything we have ever witnessed. Nearly empty stadiums make for just one variable that a coronavirus world presents, and accurately projecting its impact will prove to be a difference-maker for everyone's bottom line. The assessment begins with a concept that already seems to have become outdated: home-field advantage. In fact, home teams won just 52% of regular-season games last year. That ranks as the third-worst season in the Super Bowl era (since 1966) and worst since 1972.
Forbes: Cowboys again most valuable NFL team, at $5.7 billion On average, each team in the NFL is worth $3.05 billion, an increase of 7% from last year. And four teams (Cowboys, Giants, Patriots and Rams) are worth at least $4 billion. The Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs are No. 23 at $2.5 billion, an increase of 9% from last year.

Kamara, 25, was the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2017 after being drafted in the third round out of Tennessee. He has been one of the league's most dynamic dual threats as a runner and receiver, with a total of 2,408 rushing yards, 2,068 receiving yards and 38 touchdowns. Source: Vikings reach deal with Dalvin Cook on five-year, $63 million contract
The Minnesota Vikings have signed Pro Bowl running back Davin Cook to a multiyear deal, the team announced Saturday. It's a five-year contract extension worth $63 million, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. The deal includes a $15.5 million signing bonus and $28.2 million in guaranteed money, a source told ESPN. Cook is the fifth-highest-paid running back in the NFL with an average salary of $12.6 million per year. To help make room for Cook's new contract, the Vikings restructured the deal of linebacker Eric Kendricks, shifting $6 million in base salary to a signing bonus to help spread out the cost, a source told Schefter. Cook was one of the league's most productive running backs last season. He recorded the second-most yards from scrimmage per game (118.1) and led the NFL with 11.3 yards after the catch per reception while recording a first down on 40.6% of his targets, which was the third-highest mark of any running back with at least 30 targets.
Dallas Cowboys call up veteran safety Brandon Carr from practice squad
The Dallas Cowboys have called up veteran safety Brandon Carr from the practice squad in time for Sunday's season opener against the Los Angeles Rams. Carr joined the Cowboys on Monday as the team looked to supplement its depth at safety following the release of Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. Head coach Mike McCarthy said Friday the team limited Carr's work during practice because he had not been in training camp. Carr, 34, said he kept himself in good shape despite not being with the team during the entire offseason and into the summer. He played some safety last season for the Baltimore Ravens. From 2012 to 2016, he played cornerback with the Cowboys. He did not anticipate having difficulty picking up the Cowboys' scheme.
