Baltimore Ravens-Pittsburgh Steelers game postponed again, to Wednesday at 3:40 p.m. ET
It becomes the first game of the NFL season to get postponed three times because NBC, which is broadcasting the game, wanted to honor its commitment to broadcast the 88th Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Wednesday night, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

NFL defends decision to play Steelers-Ravens

The NFL defended its decision to play a game Wednesday between the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers, saying it was confident that a COVID-19 outbreak among Ravens players and staff had concluded and posed no threat for further infection. "We can say with confidence that there is no active infection among the players, coaches and staff on the Ravens sideline today," NFL chief medical officer Dr. Allen Sills said during a conference call two hours before kickoff. All members of the Ravens' traveling party returned negative results during rapid point-of-care tests Wednesday morning. Before that, however, the organization had produced 10 consecutive days of at least one positive test, including at least 14 players. The Ravens were set to take on the Steelers without quarterback Lamar Jackson, among many other key players. Commissioner Roger Goodell, meanwhile, called it a "remarkable achievement" for the league to have made it through 12 of its 17 regular-season weeks without canceling a game. He said the league's "collective goal" is to complete the season and added "we are on a path to do that" despite rising infection rates around the country. The league continues to discuss its options for the playoffs, including the possibility of modified local bubbles for teams that advance. Goodell has ruled out a conventional bubble that would put the league under one roof.

NFL MVP watch 2020: Can Aaron Rodgers beat out Patrick Mahomes? Is Derrick Henry a legit contender?

Over the past few weeks, we've seen some movement in the MVP race for the 200 NFL season. Last year's winner has fallen out of contention, and the early front-runner for this year was leapfrogged by two former winners. With five weeks left in the season, can anyone catch Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers? Or will it come down to one of these elite quarterbacks? And could a running back really get in the mix?

Watermelons, tragedy, Tuesday game: Inside Dallas Cowboys' past 18 days

The past 18 days have been unlike any the Dallas Cowboys have experienced. The path to Tuesday's game at the Baltimore Ravens (8:05 p.m. ET, Fox) took dramatic turns going back to Nov. 21. The team was euphoric after their most complete win of the season at the Minnesota Vikings on Nov. 22. The mood turned to devastation with the death of Cowboys strength and conditioning coordinator Markus Paul three days later. The Cowboys always knew this part of their schedule would be the trickiest because they were supposed to play three games in 12 days. With a 3-7 record and a favorable schedule, the Cowboys took a "why not us?" look at winning the NFC East with how poorly the New York Giants, Washington Football Team and Philadelphia Eagles had been playing. A win on Thanksgiving against Washington would give the Cowboys the division lead, at least temporarily.

Baltimore Ravens WR Dez Bryant says he's tested positive just before kickoff

Ravens wide receiver Dez Bryant surprisingly announced that he has tested positive for COVID-19 just 30 minutes before his much-anticipated reunion with theDallas Cowboys on Tuesday night. According to the NFL, Bryant's PCR test Tuesday morning was inconclusive, as was the re-run of the test. The lab is in Maryland, so that's why the results came back on Tuesday evening. The subsequent point-of-contact PCR test at the stadium was positive and Bryant was removed, as per NFL protocol. The NFL and NFLPA are not worried about close contacts with Bryant, sources told ESPN, because the Ravens have been operating under exceedingly strict protocols for the past two weeks, effectively eliminating the possibility of close contacts. Bryant, 32, was set to play the Cowboys for the first time since Dallas cut him two years ago. Days before the game, Bryant said it was going to be "an exciting moment" to play the team that he spent eight seasons with and caught a franchise-record 73 touchdowns passes.

Bryant said he would not return this season."Yea I'm going to go ahead and call it a quit for the rest of the season," Bryant posted on Twitter. "... I can't deal with this."

NFL says it followed COVID-19 protocols with Dez Bryant
Bryant was on the field participating in individual warm-ups about an hour before the Ravens were notified of his inconclusive test result. By that point, Bryant was seen hugging and talking with players, including former teammates with the Cowboys, without wearing a mask.

Wild NFC East could produce a sub-.500 champ or two playoff teams

The NFC East race will be decided by the teams everyone predicted would be there in the end: the New York Giants and the Washington Redskins Football Team. And by everyone, we mean no one. But during the 2020 NFL season, the unpredictable keeps happening, so the division will be won by one of these two franchises, which combined for seven wins last season. That number also represents their current combined winning streak, which is why they have muscled past the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys, the preseason favorites. Technically, those teams remain alive. Good luck making a case for them to win, however. They both have three wins and are on a combined six-game losing streak. Dallas lost quarterback Dak Prescott; Philadelphia just benched Carson Wentz.

Roger Goodell says NFL won't jump line for COVID-19 vaccine ahead of Super Bowl LV

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said Monday that even with COVID-19 vaccines now being distributed to hospitals nationwide, NFL players and personnel will not be jumping the lines for vaccination before Super Bowl LV, which is scheduled for Feb. 7, 2021.He also emphasized that with the event still 55 days away, the league needs to be prepared to "adapt and evolve" with regard to the coronavirus, which has affected 16.5 million people in the United States and claimed more than 300,000 lives in the country. There has been no determination made as to stadium capacity, which has been 25% at Raymond James Stadium since Week 6 this season, the maximum allowed under Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, which is roughly 16,000 fans. The league is also confident in its ability to host the event despite the state of Florida's high number of COVID-19 cases. The White House Coronavirus Task Report released a report last week stating that Florida was in the "red zone" with more than a 10.1% positivity rate, the 33rd-highest rate in the country. Hillsborough County, which is where Tampa is located, is faring better and is in the "orange zone," with positivity rates between 8.0% and 10%.
