U.S. tops Canada for bronze at hockey worlds.

Anders Lee and Kreider added empty-net insurance goals to give the U.S. it's third bronze in six years.
 
The San Jose Sharks sign high-scoring Evander Kane to 7-year, $49 million deal.

Kane will be paid $9 million in the first year, followed by salaries of $8, $6, $7, $7 and 2 years $6 million.

The Washington Capitals and John Carlson agreed to a new eight-year, $64 million contract.

Carlson set career highs with 15 goals and 53 assist in 2017-18 as part of the Capitals first Stanley Cup Final in 20 years.
 
The Colorado Avalanche signed goaltender Phillip Grubauer to a three-year contract worth $10 million and put defenseman Brooks Orpik on buyout waivers the day after acquiring them from the Washington Capitals.
 
Forward Devante Smith-Pelly, has re-signed with the Washington Capitals on a one-year, $1 million deal. The second round pick in the 2010 NHL draft has 93 career points (40 goals)
