That is a pretty great trailer. The "different lifetime" line confirms it's an alternative timeline. They probably put that in for message board people to notice. Spock hugging Uhura isn't as bad as I thought as he has a "how do I deal with these human females?" look on his face.
Yeah, the motion blur really helps to cover up that awful design.
Did you see Gabriel Koerner's post on SFM saying he's convinced now they stole parts of his design? I think it's pretty much undeniable. Funny thing is, I don't like his design either, but it still looks better than the official one.
I liked Nero in the trailer. He looks sufficiently intense and the Kirk line was good but I was still left a bit cold by the trailer.
I didn't dislike it but I didn't get anywhere near as excited as everyone else has been.
I'm still a bit nervy about how the whole thing is going to come together and I'm praying that my reservations are going to end up being unfounded and the movie will blow us all away but until release day I can't get THAT hyped up for it because |i'n still worried it's going to suck or even just be merely "good" which is not enough.

Another thing stopping me dancing around at the cool 'splosions and what looks like some real nice action pieces is the militant gushing over at TBBS that is going on like this movie is the second coming of Christ on celluloid and that rises up and flames the fuck out of anyone who has even a question that could be deemed somewhat negative by Dennis Bailey. Pfft.
The thing that mostly worries me is something we can't really tell from the trailer. The script couldn't be edited during filming because of the writers strike, so there could be some really, really bad lines or things that just didn't work that they still had to film. Maybe that'll be sorted out in the editing suite, but some things will get through. I bet the swollen hands scene would've been rewritten if they'd had another chance.
Koerner's Enterprise is purdy for a fan design but it's a bit to militaristic looking for me. There is something about it that doesn't quite work.
The new Enterprise is really a lazy design and the sloped hull and nacelles just scream "look how sexy we are now."
With that said I agree it looks better in motion than as a model to scrutinize closely. But I'm more worried about the tacky interiors of the ship and the bridge which I find utterly aesthetically displeasing.
