OH NO!! NOT "FRINGE"!! NOOOOOOO!!!

Big Dick McGee

If you don't know, now ya know
This season of Fringe has been amazing. The last half-dozen have been especially good, and have vaulted the series back into first place among the showw I currently watch.

But it figures, something is up.

Last night's episode was another excellent one, but during the previews at the end, something awful happened: Fox teased that "On January 21st, The Next Chapter Begins".

JANUARY MOTHERFUCKING TWENTY-FIRST?? But that's not the worst part. The worst part is that they're moving it to Friday night. I know shows often take extended time off during the holidays; there are only 22 episodes to fill a season, and I guess I'd rather they start fresh and just keep going with minimal repeats until May. But isn't a month and a half a bit excessive?

And it's not like I watch anything else on Friday nights (and with the DVR it's not like it matters if I did), but Friday night is almost as much of a graveyard as Saturday night.

I'm afraid this is a sure sign the show will be cancelled. Dammit. Why the hell do mediocre-to-crap shows like "Hawaii Five-O", and "CSI" and "NCIS" garner huge ratings, but a really well-acted, well-written show like Fringe gets fair to poor ratings?

American television watchers are fucking dumbasses who can't follow a continuing storyline, I guess.

*SIGH*

And the first Friday Fringe show is going to be ironically named Firefly.

Heh, that's funny, because in last night's episode, there was a train called the "Firefly Express". CO-IN-CIDENCE? I THINK NOT, TOM BOMBADIL!

Fringe is one of those shows that I just never remembered to watch, FOR SOME REASON. I've heard all kinds of good things about it, but I've never seen an episode.

GET A DVR, MOFO!:rwmad:

It's awesome, well-written, great performances (especially John Noble as Walter), and it's got ANNA ANNA ANNA TORV and JOSHUA JACKSON for the lay-tees.

Chill out.

And yeah, Fringe is one of the best shows on TV right now. Along with Breaking Bad and Eastbound and Down, probably my favourite.

Can you just jump in and start watching, or is it one of those shows you need to see from the beginning?

I'm sorry, but NCIS is awesome, like a bacon sammich.

It's heavily dependent on its arc at this point; people make a lot of comparisons to Lost in that regard. When they started in season 1, it was mostly standalone episodes with a little bit of mythology hidden in each one. At this point in season 3, it's obvious that from the beginning there actually was a lot of the actual story going on, it was just kind of hidden. You could just jump in and start at some point around halfway through season 1 and miss most of the monster of the week stuff, but past that you'll miss out on a lot of important parts of the story and consequently it won't make much sense.
