Okay

I know, I know - another one of those crappy statements directed at me ...

however,

Texas really is a wonderful place and most of the people that live here are nice too. Don't know what you like to do for fun, but you will likely find something here to do that you will enjoy.

I won't bother you if you come to Texas. Promise.

Operative word here is 'most'.

I've been to Texas a few times, lived in D-FW for half a year. Had some fun rebuilding burnout houses. Met some strange individuals, some I remember fondly, some not so much. I suspect I'd like Austin because our local DJ legend up here is a huge fan of the music scene and brings us all sorts of wonderful acts from Austin's festivals. Acts like Guy Forsyth and Carolyn Wonderland among others, Rochester is becoming known as Austin North.

Although I remember parts of Dallas with fondness, it was during a time I was in a dark place and overall my feeling was that it was desert scrub covered by randomly placed interstates that led nowhere, arbitrarily changed names and directions, and was full of some twisted fuckers (although that was just the people I was around). A very surreal experience...but not half as surreal as travelling through west Texas during a freak snow storm.

Ugh...West Texas.

Austin is a lot of fun, especially if you're a music buff. Although I was born and raised in Dallas county, I've actually found a home away from home in a small Texas county full of those Czech bohemians and their fabulous cooking. The most welcoming people I've ever met.

I'm fortunate. I love all of Texas. I enjoyed Alabama, Colorado, and Arizona too when I lived there. I didn't care much for living in California but I'd definitely visit there again.

West Texas has its charm. Have a little story about Van Horn.
On my way to California, I stopped at the gas station/convenience store/restaurant on the highway in Van Horn in the spring of 1985. Was driving an old brown Rambler. Had a basic conversation with the clerk - hello, the weather, on my way, etc. On my way from Arizona back to Texas in August of 1988 I stopped at that same gas station/convenience store/restaurant and as I walked in the door the clerk greeted me and asked me about California and asked me what happened to the Rambler, etc. Either that guy had a very good memory or not many people stop by his little store on the highway passing through Van Horn.

Gotta love dramatic sunrises and sunsets to appreciate West Texas. Lots of history out that way too - ghosts, dust, and tumbleweeds.

The list is too long to go through. It starts with the inbred bigoted republicans though, and ends with inbred moronic uneducated democrats. I have made absolutley no friends since I have been here. In two years. I doubt I will before I leave or kill myself either.

HEY! OMG I just remembered who you are.

What is wrong with Mississippi?

Did you really just ask that?

Right here I was going to tell you how stupid you are but then I realized you wouldn't understand.

That would be like trying to explain in detail to a dog why it shouldn't shit on the carpet.

Hey, I know - Why don't you have your neighbor shoot me with an arrow. Or how was it you put it...Skewered to the door? /snicker.

^You are really good at that.

Clever.

Anyway, the fun of it is I'm supposedly on ignore. Which I take to mean I'm not really ignored but read and disagreed with but not responded to. Upside being I'm free to display my disgust with and distain of Eloisel unmolested.

Free money baby.

And since I really can't stand her or anything she says, it's no problem at all to type a bit of hate in her direction as I see fit.

Here's a fun Gear hates Eloisel fact : You will very rarely if ever read profanity directed at Eloisel by me. Profanity can be the refuge of the simple mind. I want it to be clear that a thinking man who won't take the easy way out despises her just because of the way she is.

:)

That's too bad. I've driven through Mississippi but never did much more than pass through. Some friends and I are planning on taking a "small ship adventure" on the Mississippi River from New Orleans to Chattanooga next year or the year after. We won't be much in Mississippi though.

Is it not pretty there at all?

Yes. Passed through Mississippi although a Riverboat cruise sounds like that would be fun. You can pretend you're in Riverworld.

Yes. It can be pretty. If you can convince yourself to forget the hatred, racism, ignorance and pettiness you can expect fro the people who live here.

You really shouldn't bother Eloisel with pertinant details. She considers herself above that type of nastiness.
