Repubotards reach all new levels

Yeah, but trust is gained with proof of sanity. Not with a spending proposal of such gargantuan proportions.

As I said, if the government does nothing, it will hurt you just the same. People who don't lose their jobs will still have to pay for those that do. We don't let children starve in this country. We don't let uninsured people die in the ER. Not to mention the cascading effect of this, if left unchecked, is a big unknown.

So, yes, we don't have money - we are printing it and making it up and it will cause inflation. But that was already going on. At least with this package we will end up with better healthcare and roads and schools, even if it doesn't work in the end. Instead of just a bunch of dead young soldiers.

I knew you were gonna go down this road. See, this is the problem inherent in the US today. People are expecting the government to fix things for them. That's incredible laziness. That's not what this country was founded upon. It's not the responsibility of the government to solve our problems. We, the people, are responsible for that. All the government needs to do is provide these few things:

1. Military for the defense of the country
2. Police to enforce the laws of the country
3. Courts to punish or exonerate those accused of breaking the law
4. Fire and emergency services
5. Infrastructure (roads)
6. Healthcare (now this next part is important) for those who cannot provide it for themselves

That's it. The Government has absolutely NO place in the economy. None. Not one iota.

Regan Reagan said it best in his very non-disjointed, non-bullshit, non-propagandist inaugural address, "This is a people with a government. Not the other way around."

The current economic crisis isn't even all that bad...

The Great Depression took 100% of the nation's GDP to recover.

This one is at 26%. Government spending is already around 20%; it's a relatively (emphasis) small gap. In the 1990s, Japan had a 270% depression - completely dwarfing everything we've ever had. Their government did NOTHING and the Japanese market grew to deal with it. There were no major societal effects; the Japanese are smarter than the Americans and actually understand savings.

Quiet, you! This is the worst economic situation since the Great Depression! The only reason it isn't as bad as the Depression is...I forget. Some hippie goofball explained it to me and his point was completely wrong, of course.

Pot, Kettle, considering you've authored such classics as:
Republicans are classier than Democrats...
and
Will the Jackasses steal another election?

We both use inflammatory remarks to draw people into our threads and debate. Plus, it's TK so we can speak our minds. That doesn't mean we aren't interested in or capable of real debate.
Point of information: The mascot of the Democratic Party is a jackass. Yes or no?
Point of information: Did I use the proper term for the Democrats or did I say "Republicans are classier than Dimocrats"? (Oh, and our judges would also have accepted Dumb-o-crats.):cylon:

Those of us who actually remember the Carter years are wondering what the fuck all these kids are crying about. Call me back when they have to reinstate the misery index.

Also, it's true that we've lost the most jobs in this recession than in any others since the great depression. But what people always forget to remember is that our population is, what, two and a half times the size now?

I remember the Carter years. I also remember the Ford years and Nixon years that preceded those. The misery index was invented long before Carter. I also remember the Reagan years with the 13% unemployment rate.

We need to update our infrastructure. We need jobs for people. Simple solution here, build infrastructure with American products. To hell with this republican global trade crap.

Repubotards? Whatever happened to 2004's nonsensicle "Repuboheads"?

Ps. It's not RepubOcan, it's RepubLIcan so wouldn't your insult sound better if it were Republitards? Sadly, you do represent the stupid left, so sad for them.

Why don't you go run for president. Oh wait, you don't think women can be trusted with the nuclear trigger.

Well, let's see. The only other non-third-world countries we seem to be trading with are the members of the EU, the UK, Japan...... That's it.

Everywhere else belongs to some sort of socialism or another.

We're only as good as our neighbors.

I think a little isolationism would be a good thing for the US right now. The Chinese are trying to poison us anyway.. we shouldn't be buying anything from them.
